I have no idea if this is true or not but just saw this on twitter:

Rumor in the DFW area is that Shawn Forrest has been offered the UNT job.

K St. guy? He may just have heard Forrest aint coming there and assumed he was getting a look at UNT. Forrest could still be headed to LSU.

Doubt a source in Kansas would break this story.

I think Rick made it clear his first choice isn't going to be an assistant. That, and he hasn't even had any time to interview anyone else.

I don't know. I heard he took you know who's Lear Jet to interview a couple of people this weekend. CHeck out the jet tracking thread. :ph34r:

The latest, again can't confirm if this is true or not:

@gomeangreen not gonna register to debate with you guys but people close to Forrest say he HAS interviewed for the job and one says he's been offered. Can't confirm if the offer is true but he has interviewed.

@meangreenfan Forrest has interviewed with the AD and people close to the situation believe he has or will be offered the job.

@meangreenfan I am. I can't confirm if he was offered the job but he has talked with the AD about it. Forrest will be @ KSU or UNT. Not LSU.

Whoever this Twitter twit is, he seems to be backing off his claim.

"Family in the DFW area connected to UNT. Also Forrest told Weber he was interviewing for the UNT job. That I can confirm."

"I actually hope what I heard is wrong about him being offered the job. If he wasn't he WILL be @ K-State."

This is the "twitter twit"here and I register to clear 2 things up:

1. I am not reporting that Forrest has been offered the job. I said it was a rumor and it is what I heard.

2. I am not backing off my original tweet. I'm not trying to break news. I was told by a family friend that is well connected with the UNT program that he got the offer. It may or may not be true in the end.

      bad night. ECU loses bad...at home. RJ Felton goes 1-12 with 5 turnovers. could read that as a fluke, or maybe that ECU is pretty spare. High Point loses to UNC-Greensboro...who again, don't look awful...but a W would've helped our resume UTSA, down 14 at the half storms back to force OT against an infinitely better program. I'm gonna assume St. Mary just started coasting and let their guard down USF barely beats 1-7 Stetson Evanston lost. McNeese lost. AAC looking like a 1 bid league again.

      I hear you, and I appreciate that you're reading deeper than surface-level statistics. You raise good points and have valid concerns. To further add to the context of all this, I think it's worth noting that UCF was Sam Houston's second game of the year, which means it was the second game of Cassity implementing his system. Similarly, Texas State was Sam Houston's fifth game of the year, so both UCF and TxSt were within the first half of the season. While we all wish and hope for instant change, it's impossible to have a unit firing on all cylinders with a new scheme in the first half of a new coordinator's first year. When you take that into consideration, I think the important thing to look for is growth/progress/improvement throughout the season. After holding Texas State to 39, they held Western Kentucky to 31, Jacksonville State to 21, and Liberty to 18 as the season went on. WKU and Jax State are #1 and #2 in CUSA playing in the championship game, and Liberty finished the season 8-4 with a win over East Carolina (a team we lost to with an interim coach). Further, Texas State put up 28 on now 10-2 Arizona State (who's likely headed to the CFP) the week before they put up 39 on Sam Houston. An 11-point difference between a CFP team defense and Sam Houston isn't terrible in game 5 of a new coordinator. If you wipe out TxSt's defensive touchdown and consider it 32 points given up by Sam Houston's defense, that's only a 4-point difference between a CFP team defense and Sam Houston's defense. I know this isn't all an apples-to-apples comparison, and I agree that his decline from year 1 to year 2 at ACU is concerning. However, I think there are some arguments to suggest Cassity's defensive unit did pretty well in year one of implementation and showed respectable growth over the course of the season, which makes me skeptically optimistic.
