maybe when RV extends JJ's contract after another 20 win season he can write in no buyout if he gets to go as a package deal with JJ. :growl:

What's the purpose of a buyout if they are set this low?

I think a rule of thumb is they just make the buyout a percentage of the contract, something the coach could afford as they are ultimately responsible for it anyway. TX did not send a check to UNT, but rather gave Aston a "relocation expense" check in the amount of 116K. They can't arbitrarily stick 1 mil on it just in case a big school with deep pockets comes calling and we want to make some money. It has to be a realistic number. Otherwise, your going to have a hard time hiring coaches because they want to have career opportunities just like everybody else.

Or maybe RV made a concession with JJ during negotiations. Maybe he was willing to take less money if we gave him an easier road to his dream job if the opportunity ever arose. Why does it have to mean that RV was out to stick it to UNT or that he wasn't doing his job?
