What a shame...with the WAC falling apart and the MAC not showing anything, the inconsistancy of the others, this conference was starting to show some potential as a serious, "non-AQ" conference.

Our new commissioner and the presidents will have basically undone the progress the Sunbelt has made over the past 10 years with this decision. What a regression.

Can't find ONE thing positive about this for the Sunbelt Conference.

Good riddance to this conference and it's new "leader"....

Reporter asked what will happen to Georgia State's men's soccer team since the Sun Belt doesn't have a men's soccer league.

Georgia State AD mentioned if other schools that join the Belt have men's soccer teams it could be something they create within the league...

I don't get the rush? Why couldn't they take their time -- where was state going to go?

Every conference is going to 12, the Big12 will be back there soon. With the ACC and SEC going to 14 its just a matter of time before everyone sees how much they are making and go further. We meed numbers for safety. Look what happened to the WAC for waiting. Instead of adding they waited and now they are no longer attractive to schools like Montana and Montana st., and are probably going to lose LATech, UTSA, TS, and Utah St.

CUSA could take as many as 4 teams, do we really want to be scrambling for members with a 6 team league?

And don't forget SJSU.

You never know if schools that were previously interested would still be interested if like you say the SBC got gutted and was down to 6 teams. Schools might then think it would be too risky of a move. You also cannot underestimate how things may change for the worse with the economy which would also change the mind of a particular school. Please see California and Montana FCS schools.

It was a smart move. Doing what the WAC wouldn't will make the SBC viable. It's not sexy but it was absolutely the right move.
