When my dad was a young insurance office manager back in the 70s, he had to hire a new secretary. The position came down to two women of equal talent and skill. My dad, flustered, went in to ask his boss, an old and wise man, for advice about the hire.

His boss told him, "Son, hire the better looking of the two. If she doesn't work out, then you were only half wrong in the first place."
