Mocking Allzheimers desease. An all time low for this board.

Rick

Yes, that's pretty sad.

On a not completely unrelated note, I hope that, assuming we do need to hire a new wbb head coach, we don't dismiss the possibility of hiring from among Baylor's assistants just because Kim Mulkey has been diagnosed with Bell's Palsy (leading some to think, "hey, an assistant may be promoted from within there). The key word in the headlines (just one of the headlines, mind you, is that this is a temporary paralysis of some of the facial muscles. I've known two people who have had this problem, and both overcame it to some extent; I say some, because I only saw the one fellow two times after his diagnosis and any observable symptoms seemed to be minor the first time, and not noticeable the second. I feel that I should mention, the first time after this diagnosis, he was in a professional setting, where he was receiving what might have been perceived as a merciless ribbing by one who had a long working history with him, if one didn't realize the genuine affection this protagonist had for him, making me think, "would it have really been a bad thing if the other fellow had "walked on eggshells" in that situation, rather than carrying on with the typically spirited give and take with the "victim". The other individual, my choir director for maybe 10 years now, was diagnosed with this maybe 7 or 8 years ago, and I don't notice any symptoms now.

My short version is, hey, this college athletic coaching is a brutal business in some ways; one has to hope that our decision makers can see the difference between permanent disabling and ultimately fatal conditions, and what may be temporary distractions for some coaches or coaching candidates and make the best decision for all concerned. Oh yeah, and I do think there are a couple of Baylor's assistants who would be a great hire for us, with Bill Brock leading the way and Damion McKinney a serious contender.

Solid post. I would offer something up but you've covered the bases nicely.
