Just read an article from New Orleans that UNO has now decided to remain DI.Now they are in the process of choosing a conference. The article says returning to the Sun Belt is one option.It sounds as if they are also considering the Southland Conf. along with the Gulf South Con.

I think that's good news.I wouldn't mind seeing them back in the Belt, but hopefully will be out by the time they are back in.

The Gulf South is DII and in trouble. All six of the Arkansas schools pulled out to join with some Oklahoma DII's to form the Great America Conference. Additionally, North Alabama is trying to go DI.

I don't think that the Belt would be interested, Even though they were a long term member, their shaky finances and the fact they just left would not be selling points.

Nooo! What was their best attendance? Six to eight hundred? And, even though they gave us a rough time, they weren't very competitive.

If the Belt needs another non-football school they should look no further than Arlington. Steal them before they become entrenched in the WAC. Their attendance should improve with their new arena.
