Are there casinos in Monroe? If not, how far is Shreveport from Monroe?

The idea of Houston doesn't much excite me. Huge sprawling urban landscape. Too much local driving. At least that's how I recall it from business trips down there. Haven't really spent any recreational time there.

about an hour and a half to monroe from shreveport. we stay in shreveport for this game and drive to monroe early. their tailgating is hella cool and damn friendly. no casinos is monroe.

We need people at the UH game. And Houston sprawls as much as Dallas, really. Dallas is worse in my opinion because of the two cities being next to each other. And the Dallas freeway system makes 0% sense.

I could say the same thing about Houston's highway system. It all depends on where you grew up.

Houston:

You want to go north or south? Take I-45

East or west? I-10

Northeast/southwest? 59

Can't figure out where your going? I-610

Dallas/FW:

Going north/south? Well, north/south towards FW or north towards Dallas? IDK, could be 35E or 35W

Trying to get to the airport? That's somewhere north...121, 183, 114, they all take you there.

Six Flags? Well, it's off of 360, 30, all of those things.

The FW loop? Well, 820 is kind of a loop.

635 just ends in the middle of nowhere.

Houston is a spoke system. The Dallas one makes 0% sense. I've lived here for a long time and still can't decipher 121, 183, 114 or 635 and what goes where.

That would be because you haven't been driving but four years

I'm giving some thought to a Plan B for the Monroe trip to do something different. The option would be to leave earlier on Friday and drive to Vicksburg, MS (75 miles past Monroe). Then hit Monroe on the way back for the game and stay in Shreveport Saturday night.

Something I've wanted to do before but didn't have the time.
