I was out there from 9 pm until they got the main span set at around 2:15 am. Too late to make the Saturday paper, but for Sunday's DRC we'll have a buncha photos and keep an eye out for something extra special...

What a huge waste of money! It is very nice to look at, but it would be better to have a parking garage across the street and events,ly build an adjacent basketball stadium. But maybe in the short term the bridge is more cost efficient, not sure.

I don't trust the school to build parking garages after the last one they built. That thing sits there everyday at least 1/2 to 3/4s empty because the school refuses to make it affordable for students.

Well I would hope it would be free! And just open up traffic but who knows. Fours needs to go and be turned into an academic building maybe but leave some parking places.

Most students are going walk to the stadium. If you park at Fouts or any UNT parking lot it makes for a much easier walk. Also, it just looks cool. I like the wing shaped roof as it goes well with the wingzone seats.

The perfect scenario (IMO) would be to shuck a multi-level eye-sore of a parking garage near or where Fouts is and rather build the Hotel and Conference Center in that same area.

This would allow UNT to keep more green space near Apogee Stadium (and the tailgate areas) which could start looking a bit too " way too many buildings in one area busy" if they end up putting the H & CC near Apogee inside the MG Village. Of course, I'm sure they've already thought all this out thoroughly, right? :)

GMG!

I'd multiquote this, but I'm too lazy. Here's my 2 cents.

Parking garage: a new one would be nice, but the one they have just sits there because of the prices, like someone already said. Parking costs in general are absurd, I have to pay $250 for the right to park my car at my dorm. It isn't much cheaper to get a spot in that garage, and I'd have to walk across campus. But, that parking garage is amazing for looking at thunderstorms in the distance, it's the highest spot on campus. And for shooting laser pointers at the TWU towers from up there.....(I'm 19 shut up, I can still do stupid things).

Bridge: Photos look great, I'm really impressed by how it's looking. I had low hopes for it aesthetically, so I am happy. It actually is an important thing (in reference to Skiver's doubts), and it makes things a lot safer and easier for traffic in the area. The way it is now, they have to stop traffic on the access roads on game day and have people walk across the North Texas Ave. bridge. That is a major hassle, and if fan support increases going forward like we expect it to, then this is majorly important. It alleviates the growing traffic and gives us students a place to walk to the stadium without all the bullshit necessary for us to walk across the other bridge.

Looks great and will really improve the walk for fans that park across I35.

Agreed. Great for the students too. I'm wicked happy that they decided to build this.

I respectfully disagree Skiver. I think the bridge is a critical way to connect the campus and provides safety for those who do. I also think the signage is huge. Many drive past the school on 35e and don't know it is there. Prior to the bridge the most visible signage was SackNSave.

And the Northeastern in him finally pops up. Always loved that term. Reminds me of Jimmy Fallon and Rachel Dratch's characters on SNL.

I talked to a construction worker taking a break from the bridge installment. He's stated everything went as planned past night. Said the completed span and concrete work would be done in 2 weeks. Still a lot to do after that, bit good to know there is time in which to get it done.

Hahaha. When I typed that out, I actually deleted the 'wicked' because I was unsure if people would understand my meaning of the word. Glad someone caught it B) You wouldn't believe the crap I got from my buddies for saying that...on a side note I have yet to accidentally drop a y'all, I must resist the urge!

AND as I've pointed out before, it will give the Alumni Pavilion a LOT more foot traffic, since it connects to the Apogee side right behind the pavilion.

What exactly is at alumni pavilion? As a student I never felt the need to go check it out, nor have I heard anything about it.

I'm disappointed in myself because I didn't make it to the pavilion last year. It is for Alumni Association members and guests. The sell food and beverages (including beer) before the football games and shut down during the games (to encourage folks to go into the games). There are also TVs and giant fans. Personalized pavers surround the building.

Someone correct me if I was off on any of the facts.

Ughh, why does everyone think we say that? :rolleyes1: Hahaha. I assure you I do not say that, nor does anyone else I've ever met. If I address a group where y'all would be appropriate, I say 'you guys'. I have no idea where the rumor started that us Northies say 'you'se guys', but as far as I know it's an incorrect rumor, unless some halfbreed from the mountains of Maine says it.

Right on! Cool to see another New Englander on here. I'm from Rhode Island, spent my first 18 years there until I came to UNT.
