And F.O.R.D. Stands For

Recommended Posts

All these guys do is turn left and race in circles...can you not miss a dryer truck on the track if you are such a good driver!? Geeeeeeezzzzz, Louise. Seems Daytona was a bit snake bit this year...better luck next year guys...and gals. Daytona is NASCAR'S SUPER BOWL...never have quite figured out why the premier race is the first one of the year...seems that it makes the whole season a bit anti-climatic, but who cares...it's a great race and a great venue. Too bad the "Super Bowl" had so many problems this year...sure glad it wasn't in Dallas and that Jerry Jones had absolutely ZERO to do with it.

Seems the weather Gods didn't like Daytona this year any more than they did Dallas' Super Bowl! OUCH!

Not when there is a malfunction in the steering and you lose all control.

I guess not. I thought these teams had decent mechanics and equipment....what type of car was that that hit the dryer truck? I've seen the video footage, I recall it was Montoya driving...was he in a Ford, Chevy or what? Can't these guys figure out how to install a steering wheel that works? How much do they get paid????? Wow, I think my mechanic down at Calvert's could do a better job than that and they don't charge near as much as these "best of the best" mechanics make....

OK, just having some fun here...don't get excited and let's not check our sense of humor at the door either. I get the fact that NASCAR is super popular, and I truly appreciate the fan-friendly nature of NASCAR. Lots of other professional sports organizations could do well to take a hard look at NASCAR's fan-friendly structure.

First of all I am not defending NASCAR however in the IT world, hardware failures happen all the time despite spending thousands of dollars for servers, etc...

Sometimes the smallest manufacturing defect isn't visible to the naked eye and causes that piece to fail at some point. Accidents do sometimes happen.

I don't know what kind of car it was or what exactly happend. But flukes happen. Back in 2006 I was travelling down I-30 in a company car and without warning, I lost all control of the wheel. The steering wheel would litterally spin around freely. After hitting both barriers, I came to a stop. The culprit...A single nut came off under the steering column. Fortunately, I wasn't doing 100+ as the weather was terrible. I was able to avoid injury by taking my foot off of the gas pedal.

A month ago I was driving a 2011 47,000 lb Spartan Fire Engine, powered by a 500 HP Caterpillar, and returning from a house fire the thing throws its harmonic balancer and alternater belt in the middle of Belknap and Riverside Drive. Thank goodness it decided to do that AFTER the fire. The truck cost roughly $500k and only has 15k miles on it.

S happens.
