George Dunham (Ticket 1310 Radio/UNT Play by Play), Dave Barnett (ESPN, Texas Rangers play by play), Craig Miller (Ticket), Tim MacMahon (ESPN/DMNews), Mark Followill (Dallas Mavericks), Sean Bass (Ticket), Rich Phillips (Ticket, SMU Play by Play), Brett Tulloss (DMN), Bill Mercer (known for wrestling but did football baseball and may be the godfather of them all)...

I know there are more and I apologize for missing them in advance - I know you guys will help me fill in the gaps - but I think it is worth mentioning from time to time just how incredibly strong we have been in this area.

These are all guys who work in a major DFW media market and nationally who are also proud UNT graduates!

Craig Way, radio voice of the Texas Longhorns (still?)

Wow - how could I forget...he's been a staple in Longhorn sports for ages now! Awesome guy!

Should also add Brian Sweaney at Texas Monthly to the list as well!

Ted Emrich, ESPN radio, UT radio for football & basketball, covering the Olympics this summer for Westwood One.

Did not know that! Have listened to him for years. He's very good.

And the all time pioneer for women sports broadcasting on NFL Today, ie, the great Phyliss George, too. She of Denton HS and UNT fame as well. :goodjob:

Seems Phyliss also won a Miss America title along the way too.

GMG!

I think his future is very bright at 25 yrs young. It helps to be the son of a broadcaster (Roger Emrich, PA for Cowboys now). Maybe I'm biased, he married one of my friends.

Don't forget about Beasley Reece! He is sports director at the CBS affiliate in Philly and a member of the UNT Athletics Hall of Fame.

If memory serves me correctly (and it often doesn't lately) the icon Randy Galloway passed through here as well. I'm not sure that he graduated but he did attend.

According to Wikipedia he graduated from Sam Houston State

A lot of news anchors as well. Debbie Denmon, Rebecca Lopez and Cynthia Izaguire on Channel 8 all graduated from UNT.

---oops the topic was SPORTS MEDIA. wasn't paying attention.

Didn't Ty Walker graduate from UNT? You would have never thought that because of his hard on for all Kansas State sports.

Unfortunately, several that have been listed also fall under this category.

Though Craig Miller is alum...I get the impression he has disowned UNT. I don't listen that much but the times I have he is always touting the greatness of Oklahoma University (Yuck!).

That is just my observation. I may not be listening to the show when he is promoting UNT.
