Ran across this link/article on the WAC board. Seems that a number of recognizable programs use Nelligan Sports Marketing for their athletic sponsorships and promotions. Does UNT use a similar service or do we market our sports at all?

We don't use an outside firm. As far as I know Hank Dickenson is our advertising salesman. It's all handled in house.

The top two names in the field are Learfield Sports and IMG College.

Teaming up with one of these firms would really take some pressure off our already stretched AD staff.

I'm sure this is a result of watching the "nickels and dimes" for years, but it would seem that the pay-off would far outweigh the expense.

Other than RV telling us so, why do you think NT staff is stretched. Visit the staff directory, and tell me what those people do on a day to day basis. Two people over concessions, 6 people in the ticket office, a number in promotions and information services. I have no doubt NT does not have the bloated staffs of many other schools, but I am serious what do they fill their day with. It takes several full time people to come up with the NT promotions, two to handle concessions, and a bunch to handle NT communications.

This really has nothing to do with hiring outside firms that may have more expertise and contacts in a particular field. I just wonder what possibly two people could do in a 40 hour work week in concessions or how many it takes to put out NT press releases and athletic site updates. I am sure that most do much more than their job titles imply and some may be part time, but nether do I necessarily buy they are working themselves to death.

FWIW, more and more Fortune 500's are bringing their marketing depts back in house.

I've seen ticket reps at Chamber of Commerce functions in Lewisville and Flower Mound, outside of usual business hours, again, fwiw.
