That doesn't hold water, unless you post here with your real name. So I think only Mitch Maher gets to make that statement.

I didn't mean your real name but moreso the screenname you obviously once used on here (or do continue to do so). It is similar to how persons use an alternate name on Vito's blog so they can bash without catching flak for some of the idiotic things that get posted in the comments section of his blog. I mean no disrespect to these guys but honestly feel that the content is redundant outside of the consistent hating on any and every move our AD makes.

From both sides of the spectrum and from the outside looking in these sugggestions to RV and Staff:

(1) Keep the football ticket office open when people who work days can buy tickets (especially for visitors's fans for marquee games) and even till 5PM or 6:PM on Fridays even if someone has to come in late to stay late. Less recorded menus and more live talk to order tickets. North Texas is not USC--we still need the "live" personal touch.

(2) Promote football games as if there are 1,000 other things people can do on Game Day in DFW (because there are). We did nothing beyond the usual in 2011 and it came back to bite us in the arse. (For certain our 5 year HS coach experiment did not work and we're paying for it still, but look at Apogee photos had not UH brought their fans on Sept. 10'th). See what I mean?

(3) Whether you like alums nor not, UNT Athletic Dept staffers., treat them as if they were still your best friends because you still catch flies with honey. Ad nausem time but Fry knew all by name, didn't carry personal grudges for things done 5 years ago by any alum or fan and yet another one of many reasons he left Denton a living legend.

Just sayin' what I been hearin' from more than one...

I think that this is great and well-deserved. Of course, there have been mistakes (no one's perfect) but in this case the good far outweighs the bad.

Now for some plummerlike advice. Concentrate your efforts on getting students to the stadiums and arenas even if it means going to them on campus again and again. Promote every event in some way. If you don't have the staff to accomplish this then go to the Mean Green Club members and/or the Alumni Association. Explain that due to commitments we may have to bite the bullet this year but it will be made up in the future. Get SGA involved; also the NT Daily. Get the message to everyone in Denton. If a new conference is in the offing (or even if it isn't) explain the rewards. People are more responsive when they have a goal to achieve. Promote! Promote! Promote! Sell! Sell! Sell!

Here's hoping that increased attendance doubles your salary at the least. With North Texas there are always more mountains to climb but a strong fan base will make it a lot easier.
