Wow. I haven't watched our girls play in a couple of weeks but that was a bad, bad loss. That final minute of OT was awful basketball. This team has made tremendous improvement this year but it still has a long ways to go.

What happened to that overachieving team from earlier in the year. Fourth straight loss with very sloppy play.

We've already exceeded just about any pre-season expectations for this year. I'm just gonna guess the team has hit a wall.

We'll have another jump next season, but I think we may be running on empty now.

They aren't playing focused and listening to Aston's directions during games, as she explicitly mentioned during her post-game interview. I am thinking they just need to get over the fact that they lost against MTSU and the couple of tough road losses in FL and start playing with discipline as they were at one point. This is not about physical exhaustion, they are all good enough athletes.

The "wall" is often as much mental as physical.

There comes the focus I talk about. They had tough losses, they just need to move on and be more focused and implement what the coaches tell them to do during games. They are a better team than what they're currently showing and could perform well in the tourney if they start focusing, the season is not over yet.

I think it's more of an overachieving team starting to come back to earth a bit. Once things start to go south, their past (ie losing), and their belief (or lack thereof) comes into play. Throw into the mix when you play for a firebrand of a coach, losing can sorta feed into itself (playing for a yeller isn't easy when you're winning...when you're losing players often tune them out altogether) the team can just sorta fold up for awhile.

It's gonna take more than a season to change the losing culture than Stephens had. Probably more than two.
