UNT Baseball?

Now that we have Apogee built and have the inaugural season behind us, have we heard any talk of baseball? I think RV said it was the next priority after a new football stadium?

It's in the plans but I don't think there is a rush too add it unless there are conference implications. Fact is that it won't be very hard starting a baseball team and get the thing going. We do need baseball at UNT asap tho but I think the timing of it coming back will depend on what happens with all this conference realignment stuff.

Season starts this weekend, and I can't wait! I hope I get to catch some sweet, sweet college baseball action in Denton someday.

We need a baseball stadium and funding to build said stadium. I wouldn't call that very easy.

If I remember correctly I believe the money is already in place to get the process started for baseball but that RV wanted to wait longer. Plus there are so many baseball teams that I think traveling wouldn't be a huge expense since we could schedule all our games with other Texas schools and in and around Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. You're right it won't be that easy but I don't think it will be a daunting task as say the football stadium was or maybe if we built a new arena or something.

Mac Park is a dump and would need complete makeover to be useable. They'd be better off borrowing a high school field if they wanted to get the program off the ground right away without building a new stadium. Any way you look at it, it's time they get off their asses and get the baseball program going and quit giving excuses.

Does the club team no longer play at Mack? Not very familiar with the Denton area high school field situation these days, but working around their Spring scheduling could be a major hassle. Either way, I agree that something needs to happen ASAP. This thing has been dragging on WAY too long. Like since our brief venture back onto the diamond back in the early 80's.

See Harry's post in the football thread regarding Sunbelt budgets and costs of sports...interesting stuff...baseball is the 3rd highest on the list. Far below football and basketball, but far above 4th place and below...interesting "cut" from # 3 down on the listing. Food for thought.
