Nice. But let's be real. Is the pit really that great? It's not a bad arena, but it is a little outdated and in need of a makeover. UTA has already surpassed us with their new arena.

While UTA has a nice new venue, their 2nd home game drew fewer against in-state Texas St than our last home game against MTSU.

Already? I do not quite understand your use of this word here...

I'm talking about the facilities, not fans/attendance. Our basketball program is getting relatively good attendance because of its recent successful seasons, and this season, adding Tony Mitchell to the mix. UTA's arena has helped the school's recent attendance in home games and overall excitement amongst fans. Again, the Pit is not a bad arena, but it is slowly asking for some renovation/upgrades, in my opinion.

The PIT is 39 years old this year!

-3 so far. Glad somebody got a laugh out of it!

You know maybe you are right – the Super Pit is soon to be 40 years old and we are still averaging 3,500 fans per game

- just about the same number that we averaged in the old snake pit

– in the last 11 years we have never won an NCAA playoff game

- winning 20 games per year against powder puff schedules is not doing it

– May be we should renovate the old men’s gym so we can have a full house

Not the palace the Matadome is.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matadome

Has to be in the running for worst D1 basketball facility.

I don't know if there is a D1 school in the country that is more openly antagonistic toward its athletic program. Their baseball field is a dump that any self respecting high school would be ashamed to play on. I'm certain there are no lights. The AD just doesn't give a damn. At all. It's bad out there.

I thought some posters were saying around here that attendance is building momentum; a tangible level of excitement that could not be tasted before?

Maybe I'm remembering wrong.

Just noticed that UTA got 1 vote in the coaches poll this week. I'm sure its because of their new arena...

I happen to really like the Super Pit.

I went to several games at the original Pit (Mens Gym). The Super Pit is a huge improvement.

I am sure that at age 40 it probably does need some renovation. But it is a great facility.

For those of you who have only seen the basketball floor, there is a whole bunch more to the facility when you go where the teams enter the floor.

As for FAU's gym, I am not sure I like the windows at the top. I listened to the woman's game on the radio and the sunlight through those windows is a real distraction.

Hey now, don't trash the Burrow like that! Hahaha. First this picture is a pic of the student section side of the women's basketball game. Where are the students then? Well outside the arena TAILGATING for the men's game, which was 4 hours later. She's not the greatest arena but she gets the job done. We should be having a new one within 5 years now.

Minus the hundreds of non-basketball events that it holds every year! It's not just a building for basketball games. And when they built it, I'm sure they knew they wouldn't always fill it. I'm sure they had graduation, orientation, and concerts in mind for the venue.

The people here complaining about winning against bad teams in basketball baffle me when I go to the football board and see "winning is all that matters" in their signature.
