Watson will likely be redshirted his freshman year with UNT asking him to change positions. After playing defensive end for Midland High the last three years, Watson is being asked to move inside to defensive tackle. To do so, he'll need to bulk up his 240-pound frame to 280 pounds.

"I'm going to have to beef up a little bit," Watson said. "That's the process I'm starting now."

Helping recruit Watson to North Texas was former Odessa High quarterback Derrick Teegarden, who now plays receiver for the Mean Green. Teegarden served as Watson's host during his official visit and really made an impression on the Midland High senior.

"Two West Texas boys out there in Denton, he kind of got me excited about it," Watson said. "He showed me around the town, showed me the good place. He really got me hooked on going there."
