He also has more fouls and turnovers then the bigs listed...

He still has a lot of developing to do and he will be in a UNT jersey next fall and wind up being a lottery pick in 2013...

Perry Jones stayed a year the Plumlees have stayed multiple years... Sullinger stayed a long time! Most players are now going as sophomores or juniors

Tony is gone. And if you'll notice, the only people in the NBA that struggle with foul trouble are centers. Tony won't see a single minute at center in the NBA. Foul trouble will not be a problem for him at the next level.

The only reason he would go to the NBA this year would be the fact he was blessed with a very athletic body ready for the NBA. He still makes foolish mistakes the prove night in night out he is not ready for the hardwood.

He is an exceptional player! But needs another year to develop or the NBA will eat him alive... he will ride the pin for 3 or 4 years before getting the minutes he could get if he were a lotto pick and waited one more year.

I agree guys drafted in the 20's almost never play. Just look at all the guys the Mavs have drafter in the last 10 years or so, I can only think of the two that are on the team now, and they don't play alot. D Jones is the 12th guy right now and Roddy B is playing pretty well.

Exactly... Even if he does well he will ride the bench because they are not going to play a player who is making 850,000 minutes over a player who they are paying 6,000,000.... That is just how that is just how the nba works! Now when his contract is up in 2/4 years depending on the rookie option then he can get paid more if he shows up in practice and play the minutes he deserves.

He'll be a top 15 pick this year guys. Just because he's ranked 23 right now(a little more than halfway through the season), doesn't mean that's where he'll end up. When the year started, he was ranked in the 50s. Also, some of the guys picked in the 20's this year(worst draft in awhile) are either STARTING, or playing big minutes. Normally, the picks in the 20s don't play a lot because they're just not talented enough. That's not the case in this draft, which is the deepest in quite awhile. If you guys honestly think he would ride the bench for FOUR years, then I shouldn't waste my time discussing basketball with you.

I am really not understanding where you guys are pulling these numbers from... outside of one espn source I have not seen him even mentioned in the 2012 draft... I am not saying it is impossible but from what the NBA scouts have said the past few games I really do not understand where your getting your information from.

There have been great players like Boozer or Ginobili taken in the draft late but they do not make an impact for a while. The simple reason is the salary structure. Go ahead and tell Cuban to play Yi or Wright over Haywood because both are more productive... which is true! The simple fact is he is owed 6 million a year over the next 4 years and most owners/coaches are not going to let that money sit on the end of the bench so some second round 800k a year player can get his minutes. Please try watching the NBA.. why did Roddy not play earlier? Why did guys like Boozer or Redd have to wait a while to get into the game? If he is a lotto pick or maybe a first rounder (which I still have not seen the signs) then he may get 15 minutes or more a game... Most likely if he goes this year he would go at best in the late first round to an already established team like the spurs or the Celtics and ride the pine behind the veteran players. The day Tony Mitchel gets to start over a fresh Paul Pierce or Richard Jefferson you call me!

You are clueless dude. If you think coaches play guys because of salary, then you know absolutely nothing about the NBA. The coaches don't care how much you make. Their jobs are on the line, and the NBA is win-now or get fired, unlike college where you get time to rebuild. They put their best players on the floor, PERIOD. And God forbid I use the most updated list(by Chad Ford, who stays in contact will all 30 GMs) to judge where Tony will be drafted instead of something that hasn't been updated in weeks. And the example you used is pitiful. Roddy hasn't started because Jason Kidd is better. Brandan Wright and Yi don't start over Haywood because they don't play the same position. And Haywood may start, but Mahinmi plays just as many minutes. Haywood makes 8 mil, and Mahinmi makes 800k. Just stop.

Yes some of it is about production but like most late draft pics he will ride the pine. You are acting like he would be a start or garner 20 minutes a night!

That all depends on who drafts him. Norris Cole, drafted 29th(in a weak draft), is playing 22 minutes a night for a team that played in the finals last year. MarShon Brooks, drafted 25th, plays 29 minutes a night. Jon Leuer, drafted 40th plays 17 minutes a night. Chandler Parsons, drafted 38th, plays 25 minutes a night. Isaiah Thomas, drafted 60th, plays 17 minutes a night. And again, this is from an incredibly weak draft.

A perfect example is Brandan Wright of the Mavs. Taken 8th overall by CHA in 2007. He is bigger and more athletic than Tony and he is averaging 9 minutes a game. Why? Because he is raw. The NBA is not a place for players to make huge improvements, it is a place to fine tune. I think another year or two at UNT would give Tony the chance to be a real player in the NBA and not just another spare.
