We are fortunate to have someone like Johnny at the helm who seems genuinely happy and proud to be here. Fans are quick to point out that we will be here long after coaching staffs have moved on, but this is a staff who has been around as long as I have been a fan. There is no doubt in my mind that this is a staff that cares and wants to be here. Happy to have him here.

We have more potential to land some big recruits in the future. Having one Tony Mitchell is great. The thought of having other highly regarded ballers coming to play at North Texas is sweet.

Well said sir. Congrats to Johnny on 200!

Rick was crying. I've never seen him like that. I chuckled at his little speech about the academic issues when he said something along the lines of how he'd never seen another coach produce such fine men as JJ. I guess it's the basketball team that's going on to be good husbands and fathers. Then I realized it's true. I've met several basketball players on campus and at football games. They have ALWAYS been gracious and polite, even when nobody's looking.

Slightly off topic, these kids visually enjoy playing at UNT and playing for Johnny. I don't know if it's a new thing, but I love that they go high five all the students after the game.

Agree 100%. Great to see JJ get his 200th win, and I, too, hope he is coaching at UNT when he gets number 300...within the next 5 years I hope as well! He has shown the ability to do just that!

Nice job by RV, and again it was pretty emotional for him. I am sure the academic issues of Jones and Williams were pretty stressful for everyone concerned the last couple of weeks. RV's emotions are pretty close to the surface on many occasions and I, for one, love to see this...it means a lot to him and it shows. Congrats to both RV and JJ.

Also agree that it seems this team loves playing for JJ and UNT...good to see the student high fives after the games and they way these kids seem to genuinely like playing together. Good for them, good for JJ and good for UNT.

It was a great day to be Mean Green today..two nice wins today at the Super Pit!

Congrats to both the Mean green men and women...I enjoyed the day a great deal. Oh, good food from Smokehouse in the Mean green Room today between the games...that Smokehouse sausage is just great!

Also told the BB band kids thanks on the way out...they do a great job. Love having them at the games...I am sure only a few heard me over the noise, but those that did seem to appreciate it....they do a lot to help the Mean green have a home court advantage.

Fifteen away from getting #200 at NT. Also a mark to keep an eye on is the all time win number (I believe 224), which he is just 2-3 years away from.

If everyone returns, we stay healthy & Odoh is as good as advertised , I don't think 25 wins would be out of the question next year

Wouldn't he still be two years away from 224 at UNT? JJ is at 185 right now (the 200 counts his wins when he was interim coach at Memphis). Even if we get ten more wins this year, he still wouldn't get to 225 next season.
