The father of David Busby (Coppell, Texas) on Tuesday said the three-star cornerback has verbally committed to North Texas.

James Busby said his son, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound senior, chose UNT over Wyoming, Utah State and Navy. David Busby was recruited by offensive coordinator Mike Canales.

“He decided on North Texas after going to Wyoming for a visit,” James Busby said. “He just wanted to stay close to home.”

Busby is ranked No. 67 among all 2012 cornerbacks in the country. He was an all-district defensive back throughout his high school career, lining up at both safety and cornerback for Coppell. Busby’s father said North Texas has recruited him to play cornerback.
