Anyone have any idea why ours is so low?

Not to make excuses, but it's probably partly because we do so much local recruiting. I mean, Texas is the richest program in the country, but they do not spend nearly as much on recruiting as others. That's at least partly because almost all their recruits are in state. Tennessee, on the other hand, only has 3 commits from the state of TN. So they're having to fly to Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and Ohio to get recruits.

On the other hand, we could be recruiting mainly Texas, particularly the DFW area, because our recruiting budget is so small.

Would be interesting if we could see the REAL recruiting budgets, but I guess that only comes in the afterlife. Somehow I think there's a school in Dallas County that would likely still be nationally ranked in that category. B)

This just shows that it is hard to compete with the big boys when we are only spending about 10% of what they spend for recruiting.

There are a lot of factors involved in these budgets. Travel costs for us should be low considering our coaches can travel the Metroplex, East Texas, Central Texas, etc... by car and also have easy access to two airports, DFW and Love Field, to fly to other areas. For instance, you can jump on a Southwest flight and go to Houston, Austin, Little Rock and New Orleans for about $39 one way.

That's in stark contrast to trying to travel out of Jonesboro, Monroe, etc...

Also, as many noted above, there is a wealth of talent in our own backyard that is easily accessible.
