Tim Duncan was the last good college player to stay all four years and he is 90!

I am not sure that is true at all. There have been a few lottery picks to stay all four years.

Didn't Okafor and Sean May stay all 4 years? Now there might even be some that graduated in 3 years and left for the NBA. To me that is the same thing as staying all 4 years.

Why not stay and build your stock another year. Make sure you are a solid lotto pick where more money is to be made! At this point I see him as maybe a late 1st round pick... but who knows

Lets enjoy his play while he is here, instead of obsessing on when he will turn pro. This kid is special on the BB court and I doubt many of us no matter how much we enjoyed good ole NT, would turn down millions to risk playing another year at NT.

i was thinking the same thing about Hansbrough, and he's turning into a decent player after a couple seasons. Someone should get in Tony's ear and say "look what happened to Adam Morrison when he went pro too soon".

Adam Morrison stayed 3 years, and he sucked because he wasn't athletic enough to hack in the NBA, not because he left to early. Just enjoy him while he's here, but don't get your hopes up that he'll be back.

Tim Duncan was the last good college player to stay all four years and he is 90! Good players go pro..enjoy it while we can, hope it sparks a wave of great recruits to UNT, and TIVO it when David Stern says: With the 5th Pick, the Sacramento Kings select Tony Mitchell, North Texas State! (Doh!)

You sir have a sick sense of humor and I hope you will post more!

Not necessarily...a kid can go through various injuries and thus decrease his draft value. Even being a second round pick you'll make a pretty darn good salary. I can't fault anyone doing something that will drastically alter his and his family's life. You can value a college education but when you have that opportunity that so so few have there is a reason folks jump on it.

I agree 100%. There a lot of degreed folks entering the job market these days that have trouble finding any employment over the poverty line. If someone has a chance to make a million bucks a year in their college age years, they would be foolish to pass up that opportunity. The value of a college education compared with the value of playing professional ball is so lop-sided it's not even funny.

Using a DISD employee as an example, a pro basketball player will make in one year what would take that DISD employee 25 years to make. One can always go back to school if they find it neccessary.

I wish he would stay, but certainly would not question his choice if he elected to go.

Second round picks do not make millions and the latest mock draft has him going 18th in the 2013 draft... not even in the 2012 draft. There is a chance he could go to the nba this year but not sure where all the rumors are coming from. If he wants to make the big bucks he needs to hold out a year and try to lock in a lottery pick.

He's currently ranked 27th of all the NBA prospects, in the article I conveniently linked for you. And it says he could potentially move "MUCH HIGHER" once he gets into draft workouts. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have him, but staying here another year will not improve his draft stock much, if at all. He's not even playing the same position here that he will play in the NBA, so there's only so much he can show scouts. For Tony, there's a lot more reason to go pro than to stay here. If he really values an education, then he can go back to school after his career is over. I know WE all want him to stay, but I'm not so sure that's in his best interest.

Do they call fouls in this NBA you speak of? If so, we might have a problem.
