Je'rod Evans, a dual-threat quarterback from Mansfield, will visit UNT later this month, his head coach Jeff Hulme said this afternoon.

Evans threw for 1,906 yards and 25 touchdowns this past season for Mansfield, which finished 11-2 and won the District 5-5A title.

Hulme said Evans will visit UNT on Jan. 20, just before national signing day on Feb. 1.

UNT offensive coordinator Mike Canales is recruiting Evans, who also has offers from Air Force and Navy.

I'd like a QB in this class, just not sure how good Evans is. I saw the video, but his HS #s concern me. Offers from service academies don't mean much, those are handed out pretty readily. But I trust that Mac wouldn't waste a ship just for the sake of having a QB in this class.

Well, after a year at prep school and two record setting seasons playing for Brad Smiley at Trinity Valley, Jerod Evans is now available again.

Get Smiley and Evans.
