6'9" Tim Owens is averaging 5 points a game for Troy. I don't know who else they played at post. 6'6" Ray Chambers? 6'4" Steven Cunningham?

There's a reason that Troy likes shooting 3 pointers. And it's not because Niko is an insurmountable inside presence. Don't get me wrong, I like Niko's active hands, but if he's going to be our best paint defender, I'm concerned.

I am saying with Hogans out who else do we play down there? Franklin is great but at the shorter end of 6'5" he just seems out of position and Mitchel is foul prone. Hogans is injured so where do we go? If we had Tramiel, Wooden, or Odufua then yes Niko would ride the pine but who else do we have?

A 6'7" 230lbs Alonzo Edwards is a damn good start. Franklin + Tony isn't a bad option. Tony stops with the stupid fouls outside the paint and he's fine.

Like I said, Niko is a fine outside defender with quick hands, but I'm more comfortable with someone who won't get shoved around in the paint.

There aren't many teams that are as small as Troy this year.

how many 6'4'/6'5'players do you know who consistently play the post? He does excellent but is still undersized. I suppose he is channeling his inner Barkley which is not a bad thing.

Yes hes undersized, OSU tried to make him into a guard but hes not a guard, he plays the 3/4... Roger doesnt get pushed around like Niko out there, Niko is a rag doll on Defense... Ill take a undersize but strong forward that knows how to play the game, than a guy whos taller but seems more lost on defense than the Kardashians in a economics class.

My whole point was Niko needs more minutes... Franklin can play in the paint but I would prefer to have someone who is 4 inches taller and has that tenacity.(Wake up Jacob Holmen!!!!!)

If you want a paint defender 4 inches taller than Franklin, you should be wanting Alonzo Edwards and Tony Mitchell.

We get it -- If you think Franklin plays out of position because of his height, Niko and Holmen also play out of position because of theirs.

Some people have the tools to play at their height in the paint, and others don't.

Peja was able to fit in a "zone d" in the nba which is technically not a zone because it would be considered illegal defense, but either way as he aged yes he was not athletic enough to stay with his man but with the Kings and even to a better extent with the hornets defensively he did his job.

Peja was tagged as the primary defender – and found out he ranked 87th overall out of about 500 NBA players in the database. That defensive ranking was determined by points per posession – so for every posession he defended, the 87th least amount of points were produced overall. (From the stat crunchers who ran the numbers on the average points scored on him per possession. Being in the top 18% of defenders and shutting your man down does not seem "lost" to me. But what do I know... I only go by my experience and the stats. Numbers will always speak for themselves. Take it or leave it but these are the stats and they say he was in the top 18% while with the hornets. (That is when these numbers were run).

First off you took that info from a website by hornets247.com

http://www.hornets247.com/blog/2010/04/20/this-year-peja-stojakovic-was-a-defensive-specialist/

You cant just look at stats, watch the D@mn game.... Peja cant play Defense, he never has and he knows it.. Just like TT, hes not known for his D, but he can sure hit from the line and has a great shot
