Just think what this team would be like if we had Adam McCoy. This is an absolutely terrible shooting team and Chris Jones can penetrate at will and it would be nice for him to have somebody to kick it out to. I think we beat Tech, maybe Columbia, and are right there with UT and LSU if we had anybody that could knock down a 3. 1 for 7 last night, shot horrible against LSU, were 6 for 25 against UT from downtown, and werent we like 1 for 13 or 0 for 13 against Tech? McCoy would at least hit a couple every game and had the potential to hit 5 or 6 a game. If we are going to have Chris Jones, JW, T-Mitch, Alzee, and Roger back then priority number 1 should be to go get a shooter............ Can the kid from Argyle shoot ?

I think talent wise and athletic wise we may be the most gifted or one of the most gifted team in the Belt but it is going to be tough for this group to win on the road with no shooters.

Give me Tristan.....

Day in and day out give me Tristian, but what this team needs is someone to come in during al lull and absolutely explode. That was Adam's speciality.

I think I expected Walton to be a better shooter than he has shown. I think I expected everyone to be a better shooter than what they have shown.

Most of these guys are shooting the same percentage now as they did when they were recruited:

Jordan Williams was brutal from outside at Kimball.

Brandon Walton made some shots but not consistent enough to warrant a D1 scholarship.

Roger Franklin has always been a hustle guy and leader on the court. An under sized power forward. Can make the outside shot but of great.

Alzee was the point guard at Carter & Lincoln that rarely shot the ball from outside. Should. not be asked to play opposite your point guard.

Chris Jones is a good outside shooter for a point guard. His role and expectation should not be to shot the ball from outside as he has . The guy is forced to try to do more.

Tony Mitchell can make the outside shot but his game and range should be limited to the free throw line and in. We need him down low without any other consistent down low scoring options.

You guys will think I'm crazy but the best outside threat and matchup problem for the opponent is Forrest Robinson. A tall guy more comfortable outside.

Clark Overlander (2012-2013) - Knows his role very well and will be the best outsde shooter on the team. Does not have the foot speed or quickness to create his own shot. His role will be to find a spot on the court and stay there; in hopes that his man will leave him to help out and bury the 3 when guys kick it out

In the mean time, I'd like to see more of Trey Norris playing with Chris. We can't shoot so move to an even more up tempo game where Jordan Williams plays to his strength and our designated shooters (Walton & Alzee) play enen less in certain situations. This teams should be averaging at least 80 pts a game!

I like his release...it's not a prototypical stroke, but his release is high and quick. Strength coaches will really need to work on his athleticism though...not so much for explosiveness to the hoop, but the tapes I've seen on him his balance looks a bit suspect in catch-and-shoot situations and that's in a lack of core and leg strength.

Nobody should be cutting into Alzee's minutes. If you want to give Trey all of Walton's I'm more than OK with that...he may well be the biggest miss in JJ's tenure...and you all know my thoughts on Michael Sturns. 30 each for CJ and Alzee, 20 for Norris...3 guard rotation for two spots.

Can't say your crazy since we've not seem him pay enough to make a determination.

We could really use a guy like that this year since...

This doesn't seem to be in JJ's playbook. I agree we should be,looking to play as fast as possible. I great example of this would be Tulsa back when they were ranking and Self was there. I remember them coming into the Pit and whipping us. They basically had a team who was big and fast and they played as fast as possible. They really didn't have any shooters they just plain out ran and jumped you to points. I remember thinking during the warmups that Tulsa played faster in the warmups than we did during the game.

JJ has always liked the slow paced inside out game. Don't think we have the outside game for that to work enough this year.

How much do you know about Niko pre-UNT? Specifically from outside?

His stroke seems smooth and he shows the ball a lot from 3pt range, but usually as a ruse to get past a defender. (hardly ever works, because no one bites).

Robinson and Niko are perhaps our best 3pt shooters. I honestly thought that Walton was going to be that McCoy or Watson type player. Im still waiting for him to have a huge night from deep. Maybe if he takes 1 or even 4 steps forward before he shoots the ball...

Thanks for finding that CBL. I wish he'd found his "zone" before he did, because he was really special that February and March for us.

BTW - Do we have a list where all our former guys are playing?

Time, folks, give it time. These youngsters are just learning to play against upperclassmen, and seem to be adjusting to a much faster game. In high school not every player had the skills of a D1 player....adjusting takes a bit of time when one discovers they are no longer the best player on every court they touch...patience, grasshopper, patience. The shots will come and they will fall.

Love the guy, but I don't think he could get away with taking 5 steps to the basket without a dribble, even in the NBA.

Not unless he was Patrick Ewing anyways.

It's pretty clear that this public awareness announcement never made it to the NBA refs.

So unjust!!

Even among the greatness that is the "This is Sportsenter" ad campaign, that one ranks near the top for me.

Wieden + Kennedy for the win. Sometimes.

I know a lot of people who spent a lot of time in the 90's watching Sportscenter. Not many people who bought Subarus, though.
