I have been to the Jackson St. and Grambling games, and on the way up Tuesday we passed a little place called Mr. Frosty. I am sure many of you are famililar with this establishment, but being new to the "mean green scene" this was my first experience.

Needless to say - my chili cheese burger and root beer float were fantastic. UNT then went on to win by 42 points, including an alley oop almost 360 dunk by Tony.

I believe I will frequent Mr. Frosty again tonight, and if UNT defeats LSU my diet will most likely suffer for the good of the team when I travel to remaining home games.

I love Mr. Frosty! Haven't been there in years though, somehow I cannot ever make myself eat anything other than NY Subway and Beth Marie's when in Denton.

Mr. Frosty has been around forever. For some however, the name is simply "FROSTY." Back in the 80s or 90s, the "MR" blew over in a storm. It wasn't repaired for many years, so for those patrons, the place for the best root beer in the world was "Frosty."

Mr. Frosty is owned by the Webb family. I went to high school with one of the brothers and they still have car shows from time to time. Randy is the brother you'll probably speak with at the counter. They still have great french fries, double meat cheeseburgers and the aforementioned best root beer there is. I'll stop by tonight after the Mean Green show LSU what for.

Love the place...don't forget about the great Frito Chili Pie as well as the burgers and root beer! Great old fashioned burger joint, great local owners, great prices and a fun place to eat. ENJOY...I know I do every time I stop by to grad a bite.

Ok all this talk about Frosty's (which I loved) is bringing back a memory of a small old diner I used to frequent(in the 90's).

It was not too far from the Square I believe. I remember all the ceiling tiles were tinted yellow with grease. They had a u-shaped counter in the middle of the small isolated building and each table had one of those mini-jukeboxes on it. There was a different special each day that went for 4 or 5 bucks with drink. The food was great and the price could not be beat.

Does this ring a bell with any of you? I am thinking it's called Bob's or Joe's....something like that.

You're thinking of TOM and JO'S. A long time Denton eatery gone now. The building is still standing but the awning and the famous TOM and JO'S sign have been removed. This would be a wonderful place for someone to open a Mean Green themed watering hole called, "TOM and JO's MEAN GREEN"

That is the one! Thanks greenjoe, that was killing me. Hate to hear they closed down. I think there was a week or two that I ate there every single day.

That place was like stepping back in time. Loved the cheeseburger basket. Sorry to hear it is no longer.

Loved Tom and Jo's. I recently stopped by to talk to Weaver Wisdom(the grandson, an A&M grad now owns it) down and across the street, and sadly noticed the place was closed up. One of the best places to eat back in the 80's.

I am ashamed that I lived in Denton 6 years and have never sampled Mr. Frosty's ware--I have no idea where Mr. Frosty is.

I will make amends my next time in Denton.

Same here....spent 5 years in denton...yet never heard of or been to Mr. Frosty's but i shall make up for it in due time.
