Five or six years ago my dad and I were tailgating with a group at a Cowboys-Texans preseason game in Houston. This lady wearing a Sam Hurd jersey came up to us claiming she was Hurd's mom and stuck around for about twenty minutes. I bet Momma Hurd is mad right now.

Hey I have a great idea let me risk my job making 500k-1 million a year playing football, selling cocaine probably making nothing close to that!

Yes but think about how much more money he would have made by dealing all of those drugs had he not gotten caught.

You don't think this was going on when he was in Dallas?

I was really talking about him being busted for all of this while he was associated with the Cowboys. I have no doubt in my mind at all that at least 5 Cowboys players will be linked with him. First one in my mind: Martellus Bennett

I really don't think it will be a big deal if some players buy or bought from him. That has gone on and will go on til the end of time as I see that as a petty thing. However what Hurd was doing is pretty big because the amount of drugs he was dealing with is no joke. I can see him getting a few decades or so in prison.

Stupid is as stupid does...enough said.

But, Rudy is 100% correct...he'll serve a short sentence...if any sentence at all...and then he'll be welcomed back with open arms by the NFL and everything will be just great! Never having to suffer the consequences of your actions is the by line for the NFL (NBA as well) these days..."come work here, screw up, go to jail for a short time and we'll get a sneaker named for you and guarantee you a roster spot" and a nice new payday.

But, hey, it's free enterprise and the fans are paying the freight...much like Hollywood and the Music business....so, no reason to fret. You don't like it, don't buy the tickets and don't watch...your choice. Pretty simple one at that.

You pick where your entertainment dollars go. Pretty simple.

EDIT: I protest those who protest my post...faceless ninjas that they are....

I don't think he gets off easy. He's basically a big time drug dealer and it has been a long standing investigation from the feds for a while now. The feds won't let him go on this one.

I've read some pretty heated comments about how Mat MacBriar boxing kangaroos is just aggressive slander and the images of his arrest are obviously photoshopped.

Wow... I almost forgot about that one. Thanks for making my day, Matt.

I put a LOT of work into that False(?) Allegation.

Well federal sentences don't have a get out of jail for good behavior clause and he is probably looking at some decent time. More importantly, he isn't talented enough where the league will have to let him back in.

He's not getting a short sentence. This is a major drug charge. His best bet for a short-ER sentence is ratting out his cohorts, at this point, and even then, it's gonna be a stint.

And, the NFL isn't going to welcome him back with open arms. You wanna know why? Because he's not a money-maker. He's a special teams player/4th or 5th WR. He's not Michael Vick or Big Ben or heck, even Dante Stallworth. Yes, he's no Stallworth. Season high receptions? 19. Season high TDs? 1.

He's too replaceable. NFL teams will take a black eye for a money-maker. Sam Hurd is a nobody.

Gotta find something to spend his I Phone money on these days.
