Chapel Hill 56

Navasota 46

Stats:

CH 30 first downs; Navasota 11

CH Rushing 66/424; Navasota 14/-12

CH Passing 169; Navasota 274

UNT commits:

Andrew Tucker 10/65, 1 TD injured in 2nd quarter appeared to be sprained ankle, but was jogging on the sidelines the entire 2nd half.

Rex Rollins 16/99, 1 TD

Sir Calvin Wallace Look at the rushing stats above for Navasota Sir Calvin played a great game created several hurries; had 2 3 sacks that I remember; really showed up when CH needed stops late in the game; and is finally showing up as a real emotional leader of the defense.

CH had a great night carrying the ball; 7 different ball carriers.

The score was as close as it was because CH offense gave up 3 touchdowns 2 interception returns and one fumble return. All eight CH TDs came via the offense.

Coming up - Rematch of last years semifinal game: CH (13 0) vs. West Columbia (13 0) at Stephen F. Austin Stadium, Nacogdoches; 7:30 Friday.

Thanks for the update Tyler. Glad to see Rollins back in the equation, Wallace being a force, and hope that Tucker can bounce back.

Saw Carthage play last night and they had some good looking athletes as well, and CH beat them earlier correct?

Best of luck to CH next week against West Columbia!

Yes, CH beat Carthage at mid-season. In that game the CH QB suffered a broken ankle, and Tucker had his first sprained ankle - both in the first half. But CH hung in there and won 21-20 breaking Carthage's long home winning streak.

Carthage has won 3-A Division II state championship the last three years. They have had a heckuva run.

CH blew out West Columbia last year (WC was undefeated last year when CH played them in the semi-finals) - but I have to be honest.......CH has got to tighten up the pass defense and get the QB back to the level he played prior to getting hurt against Carthage if they are to return to the state championship game.

However, the other side of it is that this year they are not beating everyone in the playoffs by 40 or so points like last year. They have had to handle adversity the last two weeks and find a way to win - and that has to give them confidence the rest of the way.

My big hope is that our three UNT commits look great for as long as the team is successful. To this point they are far more than holding their own against some pretty strong competition.

We're all with you there. It seems the reports on Sir Calvin have been much more encouraging as the season has gone along. Thanks for keeping us updated.

I have to admit that I am seeing things from Sir Calvin that now help me understand why UNT offered him - this guy has a lot of upside, and as I have said a couple of times before, there are a lot of folks over here behind the pine curtain that are looking forward to seeing Dan McCarney light this guy up.

If it happens, it is going to be fun - and we will have one less "need"! But in my untrained opinion, it may be to everyone's benefit if Sir Calvin is red-shirted.
