Tigers receiver Christian Hines, who is following his father Marcus and brothers Omarius and Jovante playing football for Corsicana, will be the fourth Hines to get his name in the Tigers’ record book.

Marcus is 12th on the all-time rushing list in the modern era. Omarius, a junior for the Florida Gators, is the Tigers’ second-leading all-time receiver. Jovante and quarterback Cameron Cutrer tied the record for the Tigers’ longest pass play — 97 yards — in 2009.

“It means a lot to me,” Christian said of being another Hines wearing the blue and gold. “He still has records. Omarius and Jovante have records. We all want to be in the record book.”

Marcus played for the Tigers from 1985-87 when they went 28-5, but never made it past the second round of the playoffs getting knocked out by McKinney in ‘85 and ‘86. He is enjoying seeing Christian play on a team that is 10-1 so far.

“They’ve excelled this year,” Marcus said. “They’ve got the running game going. As a team they’re all doing well and I think (Christian’s) enjoying it.”

Marcus said it’s special to see the Hines’ name dotting the record book, and that Christian is headed to North Texas as another Hines to play college football.

“That’s an honor,” Marcus said. “I do enjoy knowing that they enjoyed Corsicana and I did as well.”

I like this quote: “If geneticists are studying the DNA for wide receivers, they might want to start with the Hines family. While Omarius Hines was catching three passes, one for a TD, for the U. of Florida last week, kid brother Christian was even better: eight catches for 258 yards and four scores in Corsicana’s 30-23 victory over Kilgore. The Tigers had been down a point and on their own three yard-line with only 1:20 remaining when Hines worked his magic. One catch got Corsicana out of the shadow of its goal post. A second went down the sideline for 60 yards and the winning score!

Good get for UNT.

Per our earlier conversation, happy now Cana?

I already knew UNT had been looking at him for sometime. That was my question, if they had been around how could they not be throwing the full court press to get Cameron. And I still don't understand it.

I have a feeling that there are a few more "stealth" recruits that are in the 2012 recruiting class.

Interesting... I don't mind recruits being stealthy... 4.4 is always welcome. This kid has some pretty decent pedigree...

Go Mean Green... With DT and a deep o-line getting one year better and if we can groom some additional speed threats that can catch, Vito might upgrade the fighting spork to a full fledged set of plastic wear from say Dickey's Bar-b-que or something...

Welcome Mr Hines!
