On Wednesday, the Mean Green Dream Team head to the United Spirit Arena (terrible name) in Lubbock, Texas to square off against the Red Raider Rash of Texas Tech. The Red Raiders (1-0, 0-0) are coming off a win against Sun Belt's very own Troy Trojans (1-1, 0-0), 90-85. In this game, the Red Raiders posted big points from Ty Nurse who had 29 points (9-13 FG, 6-9 3FG). This will be a rematch of last year's game at the Super Pit, when UNT beat the Red Raiders 92-83 in what has become one of the most thrilling victories in Super Pit history. The rushing of the court, White's big three pointer and the almost SOLD OUT STUDENT SECTION immortalized this game in the North Texas Athletic history books. Both teams go into this game with a 1-0 record, just like last season. We travel to the flat, boring, and unappealing scenery of Lubbock, Texas tomorrow, so LET'S GET THOSE PREDICTIONS GOING!

-Win by 9

-Most points: Jordan Williams

-Pick to Click (P2C): Jacob Holmen

-Biggest Play: Big Trey Ball by Jordan Williams to put us up late.

GMG! Beat the RAIDER RASH!

I like how you don't include 'almost' in your all caps SOLD OUT STUDENT SECTION.

You could have used footnotes and color a la Plumm to really capture the essence of this grasping-for-straws moment. Might I suggest this:

almostSOLD OUT1 game.

1. Student Section only

UNT 81

Texas Tech 73

Chris Jones with 16, 9, and 6.

Jordan Williams with 15 points.

It's kinda nice to match up with a Big 12 team in which I honestly feel that we are much more talented than. Last year, we won because of the seniors, but beating a Big 12 team on talent alone...that is awesome. Here's to our players making it home "raider rash" free...

Go Mean Green!

TT has a new coach and an excellent freshman recruits.... we have a excellent freshman recruits... this game will go down to the wire with the team who makes the least turnovers and makes their free throws likely to pull it out... perhaps JJ might be the difference maker (experienced vs. new coach who unfamiliar with his players.. even returning ones)... UNT 80, TT 79.

I think we win by 9. We are much bigger than Tech is and I think we should be able to control the boards. It will be interesting to see if we start the same lineup as the first game. Tech starts 3 players 6'3" or under, it will be interesting to see how we guard them if we start J Williams and Holmen at the 2 & 3. On the other hand, how would they guard us, especially Holmen.

Why is United Spirit Arena a "terrible name"?

remember guys, Tech has 8 players. meaning they have 3 bench players. we're EXTREMELY deep in comparison. I have a feeling we run the piss out of them, gassing people like Nurse.

Crockett and Wagner haven't been ruled out...either way an 8 man rotation is fine this early in the season and we don't press like Troy did and Nurse didn't seem too "gassed" so...kinda a bad sports point.

I'd actually be fine seeing us roll out just 8 or 9 tonight...Jones, Alzee, Norris, Jordan, Franklin, Hogans, Edwards, Holmen...maybe Stojikovic if Lewandowski is having a night.

And considering the performance of the other Eagle-associated "Dream Team" can we go ahead and tap the breaks until this team actually accomplishes something short of some nice Rivals stars.

As for a game prediction...

UNT - 87

Tech - 81

Double-doubles for Chris Jones (6pts, 11rbs, 11 asts) and Alonzo Edwards (10pts, 13rbs)...Roger Franklin leads a balanced attack with 16 points...the Williams's and Edwards also chip in double figures.

It's for United Supermarkets for those of you that don't know. Having worked at a United Market Street for so long it doesn't surprise me that they cheesed up the name by adding Spirit in the name.

UNT: 83

Tech: 79

Fast-paced game. Lots of scoring and probably some sloppy defense all around. UNT will win a FT shooting contest in the end.

This could not have been further from reality:

Slow game (shot clock run down consistently on both sides of the floor).

Not alot of scoring.

sloppy OFFENSE all around.

UNT loses

I'm a terrible basketball prognosticator.
