Uh, that was the perception before this broke.

Not anymore.

JoePa is basically a good guy, but in this case he had such terrible judgement it destroys his otherwise good reputation. He still did a lot of great things, but this was so bad the balance is still bad.

Look, none of us know him personally. WHat we do know is he chose friendship over protecting children from a sexual abuser.

To me, that speaks a ton to his character, and it doesn't speak well.

still waiting to hear his side of the story... so far Penn St. has disappointed me more... quit being afraid to put him in front of a microphone and let him talk to the public... you know he is going to speak his mind

You're right - it doesn't speak well of his character.

Actually I have met him. A friend of mine is President of the local Penn State alumni group and each year they have a party for the kids in the area who are going off to Penn State. There are more of them than I imagined - between 5 and 20 each year. A couple of times, JoePa has come down for the party and my friend invited me to it. He introduced me to JoePa. Joe referred to me as "the Mean Green guy" the rest of the evening.

Joe did not do the molesting, but he could have tried harder to stop it.
