Eastern Kentucky - 66

Eastern Kentucky had their last lead at 5-4...but managed to keep it close throughout as the lead never swelled to more than 10. EKU was a .500 team last season in the Ohio Valley and returned only one of their top 5 scorers. I'm sure MSU is a bit disappointed that they didn't bury EKU a bit earlier.

Mississippi State played just 7 players so depth may prove an issue for them this year.

Point guard Dee Bost will be a hand full...he went for 23 points, 6 boards, 6 assists, 2 steals, 1 block...but also 5 turn-overs...all while locking up with EKU's top guard.

Rodney Hood is MSU's top freshman recruit...a 6'8" wing...he went for 12 points, 9 board and 4 assists in his first college game.

MSU also has a good deal of talented size with Arnett Moultrie (6'11", 230), Renardo Sidney (6'10" 270) and Wendell Lewis (6'9", 253)...the 3 combined for 28 points, 16 boards and 3 blocks last night.

Mississippi State - 58

Now...before everyone starts thinking MSU is quite beatable now...Akron is good...23-9 last season and gave Notre Dame a run for their money in the first round of the NCAA's last season and they return a good deal of that team.

That...and, this game must have been just brutal to watch...a total of 34 turnovers with just 11 combined assists. This is rust showing...MSU I still believe will be our second toughest OOC game behind Texas
