I'm sure they will

Why are you sure?

Arkansas used to have a tremendous recruiting presence in Texas, maybe comparable to what OU continues to enjoy. But once they went to the SEC, that recruiting took a nosedive. And Mizzou has never had a recruiting presence in Texas comparable to what Arkansas once had. What makes you think Mizzou will be a big player recruiting in Texas, especially considering they will be a punching bag in the SEC?

It may be less but in todays day and age if Mizzou wants to recruit Texas then they'll recruit this state and still be able to get their recruits. But yeah the positive side to this is that they now able to seriously recruit SEC country much easier since they're one of the SEC boys now.

OK, I've lost track. Was the Missouri to SEC move assumed to be a done deal prior to the WVU move to the Big 12 and that's why the Big 12 moved on WVU or is this a new event that the Big 12 now needs to respond to?

I'm just not sure if this is new news, old news or new news about old news that everyone already knew about and had previously factored into all the conference moves so far.

Mizzou will still play Texas A&M. Also, SEC has two games a week on locally in Dallas - the morning and the marquee game. Mizzou will get plenty of play in Texas.

And, for them the bonus is being put in the west where they'll play Florida and Georgia every year, getting exposure in those speedy prep markets.

Mizzou could end up pulling kids from all over the country the way Nebraska usually has. Totally pumped for Mizzou!

SEC schools already cherry pick Texas and have a good television presence. A&M gives them more of a hold. Mizzou delivers St. Louis and Kansas City.

It'll be interesting to see the SEC schools visiting a considerably colder Missouri for November games as well. Florida playing in the snow in November? KA-POW! Watching Mizzou will be fun.

Bye Bye Mo...was nice knowing you and having you be a stepping stone in the Big XII for so many years. better go ask Arkansas what life will be like in the SEC for the next several years.

It's a decision schools have to make for themselves and a decision that they think will be in their best interests. So be it...good for MO if that's what they think they needed to do. Life will definitely move along for the Big XII and the SEC with or without Missouri.

Seems this is the "new norm" for college athletics these days. It will be good when this is all over and everyone can get back to concentrating on playing ball. Good luck in the SEC.

I'm not sure how often they'll play at all, since they'll be in different divisions. I don't have the Nielson ratings in front of me, but not a lot of folks watch that SEC morning game. And unless Mizzou outperforms expectations, they won't be playing in the marquee game very often, just like Kentucky, Vandy, Ole Miss, and MSU.

Obviously you meant east, but yes, that will help. It may well overcome the hit their Texas recruiting will take.

No, they don't. Texas high schools had 41 Rivals 4- and 5-star recruits last year, and most if not all of them had offers from SEC schools. But how many went to SEC schools? One.

I can see why Mizzou wanted to jump on the more stable SEC. But the Mizzou fans who think it will make their school a football powerhouse will be in for a rude awakening.

They do cherry pick Texas, look at their roster. Hell, LSU has the #1 dual threat QB out of Texas from four years ago playing WR. LSU gets one or two four or five star recruit every year out of Texas. That's sure to double with the Texas A&M rivalry back on track.

Cherry pick doesn't mean they get a majority from Texas. They don't need to. There's plenty of speed and talent in the south. But, you look around SEC rosters like LSUs and they're peppered with Texas preps. Starting QB Jarrett Lee....starting DT Mcihael Brockers...WR Russell Shepherd., former 5-star QB from Houston Cy Ridge.

LSU, Bama, and the rest have long come into Texas and gotten what they want. That'll be opened further with A&M in the house, Arkansas in Dallas at Jerry World.

I know Texas people don't like it. But, it doesn't matter. Texas has the population, the SEC has the pull. A&M opened the door even further for them down south...Mizzou opened the door for them up for St. Louis and KC.

It flows both ways. Mizzou and A&M will do well. Texas and OU will have more competition from the SEC for certain recruits. Although, three different SEC schools have already proven they can shut down Texas or OU in title games, so it's all just icing on the cake for them.

Sure, they get recruits from Texas, and some of those recruits end up doing very well. But they do not come close to "cherry-picking" the best players from the state.

Okay, LSU got Jarrett Lee. But do you know what? Neither Texas nor OU offered him. So I really don't see that as a huge coup. Last year, LSU offered 13 players out of Texas, and landed 3 of them. Texas landed 4 of those players LSU was offering and OU landed 2. So LSU, which is probably the best SEC school recruiting Texas, still can't come close to recruiting against UT and OU.

And Mizzou won't come close to LSU.

I'd say getting 4- and 5-star recruits is cherry-picking in the highest order. OU and Texas can't offer every player in the state. LSU and other SEC schools get what they want out of Texas, and will now get more.

Both LSU and Bama have starting DTs from Texas. It doesn't matter whether or not OU or Texas offered them.

Also, you do understand that not every kid in Texas wants to go to Texas. And, that during the recruiting process, they will tell the coaches the same. And, thus, they won't get offers from those schools.

And...here we go again...demographics...economics...family...not every kid in Texas is from a family from Texas. Loyalties back home, etc., etc., etc.

A&M opens the door further South, Mizzou in the Midwest. It's a good get all around for everyone. Pinkel has done a great job at Mizzou, taking advantage of Texas while in the Big 12. He'll do well in the South as well. Even without being in the SEC, he's got kids on his roster from Louisiana and Florida.

SEC wins by gaining more ground in Texas and picking up St. Louis and KC. Big 12 does virtually nothing, adding TCU, which is in a market they already own, and West Virginia, which is in a market no one cares about and a state that doesn't produce a ton of FBS recruits.
