ArkStateFan has written several times about this. 10 wins pretty much gets you into the top 25 no matter who you are.

No chance a sunbelt teams gets ranked unless they knock off someone in a bowl game , even then it's a reach

Best chance is ARK ST. Even then you have to look at the fact they got beat by the only AQ team they faced * , Illinois.

The lllini are currently 6 - 3 w/ a win over a ranked Arizona State team & they haven't even recieved 1 vote yet. As a voter there is no way I put a 10 win sunbelt team ahead of a mid range Big 10 team , whom they lost to , and the end of the season.

Our conference champ might very well be WKU , a team that got drilled by a FCS team. This conference will get no respect in the polls IMO

* edit , they also lost to Va Tech

AAU = new jinx king ? Flyer needs a break

 Yeah...that was all on me. I need to write Coach Berry and apologize. I will keep my mouth shut about the MTSU game though I don't see a way I could jinx that one. Either way....that was a great game and arguably the best one between two rivals and Sunbelt conference mates I have seen this year.

I am way to lazy to search the threads.

However He of the ArkState Fandom has done quite a bit of research on this. Ten wins gets you in. The SBC has never had a 10 win regular season, so no top 25. A couple of nine win teams have picked up votes. If the SBC gets someone to 10 wins they will be #25.

Agree to disagree w/ you & ArkState.

I've read what he said, but 10 Wins in the SUNBELT is not the same as 10 wins in any other conference. The teams he was talking , whom recieved votes , beat some good teams that same year. Our conference has yet to have a "good " win in a few years.

If FIU didn't fall apart it had a really good shot.

Had Ark State knocked off Illini or Va Tech then for sure they would be ranked w/10 wins & a bowl game

If ULL can win out ( game @ AZ) then maybe they get in there after a BOWL win

I just don't think 10+ wins and bowl game vs some MAC team is going to garner any respect for a Sunbelt team

.

10 win MAC teams have made the top 10 without beating anyone with a winning record.

While you're disparaging the Belt, a conference that may be our home for a while despite our sunshine assumptions, tell me what running the table in this years's MAC or WAC would get you. Tap the brakes a bit.

So you're saying it would happen if we get the key OOC wins?

It will be a great day when this happens and we can see what kind of attention is given and how the team (cough*us*cough) handles it. :)

You and I both know this only cues the "perception vs. reality" discussions.

Look they all suck 3 suck. It's not like we can claim to be better than those conferences right now tho tho , right ? It's only going to get worse the more the AQ conferences pick apart who they want from the non AQ teams. If it goes towards SUPER CONFERENCES then we are really screwed . At least in the past if you ran those conferences you would be considered for a TOP 25 finish and a nice little bowl. Our conference has never gotten any respect and it won't until someone can go undeafted and knock off a nice team in a bowl game

Despite the venom that will spew forth from some on here... I have to agree with you. I don't think anyone is bashing the conference, it's just the state of the union that is cfb.

1. Middle Tennessee had a 10 win season and a bowl victory, and they didn't get ranked.

2. Just to make sure... Arkansas State and ULL both won, right? So, this was all a giant waste of self-flagellating energy?

Prove it.

Seems we are the only team this year to suffer a blowout (2, actually) at the hands of a conference foe.

Soooooooo looking forward to the day when this doesn't happen anymore.

Just an aside, but I wagered this game while in Lost Wages.

I was in a meeting but was trying to keep an eye on this game.

After ULL got down early, they ran off 24...and then they just stopped for the 3Q.

Looks like Gautier got hurt (or was replaced for some other reason).

He came back in the 4th, and so did the team to grab the win.

That second QB is pretty important to a football team, yes.
