UNT has a new stadium, has increased its athletic budget and has a lot fewer glaring holes. The football program is still pretty mediocre, which is one area where UNT has actually taken a step back. UNT was still in the glory days of the Darrell Dickey era back in 2004, but the basketball program is better, UNT's overall program has improved and so have its facilities that go along with Apogee Stadium.

I will never forget Rick Villarreal telling me back about 2004-05 that if UNT had in place what it planned to have in place in a few years, maybe things would be different. Well, those things are in place now.

One school who came into CUSA in the early 2,000's came in with about a 15 year seasons losing streak, so North Texas doesn't need to get hammered by anyone (friend or foe) on our present one that is half that of said school described above.
