McNulty Called Upon Again

North Texas was right back in a familiar situation on Saturday night.

Starting quarterback Derek Thompson was on the sideline with a game-ending injury, a backup was in the game and the Mean Green’s offense was struggling.

That’s just what happened last year in a loss to Army and a month ago in a loss to Tulsa.

This time it was a concussion that knocked out Thompson on UNT’s second play from scrimmage, and Andrew McNulty was forced to take over in a 37-14 loss to Arkansas State at ASU Stadium.

“Derek has been playing really well and he went out really early,” UNT head coach Dan McCarney said. “I thought Andrew McNulty did some really positive things. You can see the competitor that he is and the toughness he has. It was good to see him score a couple of touchdowns in the second half.”

Somebody f'ing drug test McCarney. "It was good to see him score some touchdowns in the second half"?

What the hell planet is he living on? Hey, Coach Dan...what about the role he played in us falling behind 31-0? Because he's "tough" and a "competitor" we forget that he can't f'ing lead the team to score when the game is still in question?

All of that tough competitiveness was good for 78 freaking passing yards through three and a half quarters of play as we fell behind 37-7. Unbelievable.

No wait...this is North Texas...totally believable.

I guess I am in the minority, I think McNulty showed a lot of improvement in this game. Other than the bad interception in the end zone, I though he exhibited more confidence and seemed to get better as the game progressed. There was a lot of problems in this game and having to use your second string QB was only one of them. When losing games the next QB is always some fans answer, but give McNulty some credit.

Thank you Mr. & Mrs. McNulty for your insight. Just kidding......
