To put this in a little better perspective, North Texas was 1-10 in 1973. Hayden Fry's first year (1974), 5-5-1 and a co-conference championship. By 1977 we were (at least for one week or so) ranked #16 in the nation.

I graduated during this era, so I get a bit annoyed when people say "baby steps". We've been playing organized (?) football since 1914. "Baby steps" are for the UTSA's of the world.

Agree Silver that new coaches shouldn’t keep kicking the can down the road every year of their guaranteed contract period

The first year is almost in the books. Like many of you, I’m already focusing on 2012! Where are the horses in the early commits? What redshirts project to be difference makers in 2012?

Our program should always attract legit D1 transfers each year. (2 is not enough at this point) We need to reprimand our top guys, rather than automatically kick them off the team for non legal transgressions.

With little depth, we can’t afford to have guys quit the program during the season for non football related reasons.

Building a winning program starts at the QB position. Despite stating that he didn’t want a statute at QB; this staff failed to bring in the dual threat difference maker we needed. Instead, our QB’s continue to get knocked out of games by the 2nd play of games.

2012 Expectations?

• .500 record and/or very competitive in all games (home and away)

• Extend less favors to friends and acquaintances in recruiting

We have the market, facilities and record pay to do much better, albeit Mac’s first year here.

Silver, myself and others have suffered far too long. Is it asking too much to expect immediate results from our coaching staff?

Let's get something real clear right now mister. This is the NEW GoMeanGreen.com. Where any 13 year old who just used their free hand out University Of North Texss pencil their mom brought home from the Denton Chamber of Commerce luncheon for the first time has a much heavier weighted wish and opinion over some old guy that has freely and loyally funded this program the past 39 years.
