Mods, move this if you must, but this team deserves to have the word spread about their game even on the football board. Friday @ 7pm at the Soccer Complex, NT will play Denver for the regular season championship, winner take all.

These sorts of games do not come around very often, and I personally cannot remember one on this campus since the bowl years for football. We need a huge crowd for this game, so if any of you all can make it, please do. I think this crowd will probably get close to the record attendance (1246) set against SMU ealier this year for a 2-1 victory. Go Mean Green!

Great post Matt... The ladies deserve to have a "huge" crowd out on Friday night. We all know that regular season conference championships are tough to come by in any sport. The fan support this year has been great (even during Ranger playoff games!), and the atmosphere is really special when you have 1,000+ UNT fans.

I echo the sentiment - Spread the Word GMG

I really wasn't expecting this to get moved...

Rules are rules, but for a program that has had 17 straight winning seasons and is hosting a Championship game aganist perennnial power Denver, I think this deserves better than to be banished to the "olympic sports" forum. The atmosphere when the stadium is full is unreal, and it is something I would hope every NT fan that can make it will experience on Friday...even if they only read the football board.

I wouldn't be surprised if awareness drops by 75% by being over here instead of harmlessly present on the fooball board. Ok, rant over now.

The North Texas drumline will be at the game. That should create a great atmosphere, and it also makes this football related.

The atmosphere will be off the charts with the drum-line! If you haven't experienced a soccer match you'll be in for a treat on Friday...

Yeah, it is going to be an awesome atmosphere. Hopefully it stays warm enough for a big crowd to still come out. On Wednesday or Thursday night, I'll probably start a new thread (like a preview thread or something) so it shows up on the "recent threads" list and gets some extra attention from people that may not venture over to the general athletics forum. This game deserves a dedicated game thread anyway.

Isn't this just for the #1 seed in the tournament? Do we actually win anything for having the best regular season record? Just wondering...

It's a lot like Basketball where the teams can claim both a Regular Season title, and a tournament title. The only downside is that there is no Women's Soccer "NIT". This is a championship game though. I hope you can make it out. When the stadium is full, these games can be really, really fun.

Denver has had a nice run against NT in the recent past, but its time we have a big crowd send them back to Denver as the 2nd place team. Go Mean Green!

So the regular season title is only "mythical"? I mean if there's no NIT type tournament and the tournament winner gets the trophy, the regular season title is kinda pointless unless you take care of business in the Sun Belt tourney.

I wish I could be there, but with the Rangers losing tonight my priorities start and end with them tomorrow night.

Good luck to the girls tomorrow night! It's been awhile since we finished on top in soccer.

I figured the Rangers game would hurt attendance. I'll be at the soccer game anyway as it will also kill off some of the earlier innings.

Anyways, the regular season title is not mythical. It is recognized by the Sun Belt exactly like it is for Basketball, there is just no gauranteed tourney for the regular season winner.

I watched the final 3 innings of the Rangers game at Fuzzy's Taco last night and just after the last fly ball was caught ending the Rangers season a chant of UNT, UNT,UNT rang through the restaurant. Many of the soccer players and fans that attended the game cheered Denton's own Sunbelt champions lessening the sting of the Ranger's loss. Way to go ladies! You made UNT proud. GMG :goodjob:
