Many Call Him The AFL's First Super Star! (the late Lamar Hunt was said to have signed him in the south end zone of Fouts Field--Hunt's widow "Norma" is a UNT grad)

Of course, that would be who many of us call friend, ie, the great Abner Haynes: Some of his honors below;

NOTE: Dr. Leon King was also part of the this African American duo who came to UNT in the mid 50's to the University of North Texas.

Abner has told me and others some stories about that era that would curl your hair if your hair is straight--straighten your hair if its curly. (SUMG and I don't have much hair for either).
