and all this for membership in CUSA....

Yes,, quite a bit beyond what we would ordinarily do in Denton, but if we don't get pro-active we will see other schools pass us by, folks, and we don't need that to happen to us anymore.

Tell CUSA Commish' Banowosky to move a CUSA sponsored bowl game to Apogee with promise that there will be a: Denton County Bowl Association to be its main sponsor and seeker of a corporate sponsor, advertising, etc, etc, etc.

Friday Addendum:

Hellsbells! Tell CUSA Commish' Brit Banowsky we will even expand Apogee Stadium another 9,000 seats to get her up to....

40,000 seat capacity...

if that is what it takes?

PS: SMU had the audacity to seek Big 12 membership through the media, so why would any of this be so outside the box for us? It would make more sense than SMU's Big 12 pipe dream.

It's so crazy it just might work...

It's not a terrible idea but I doubt CUSA would want a third bowl game in DFW.

Armed Forces and Ticketcity Bowls

Large Print Edition For Fellow Seniors::thumbsu:

There are strange and outside the box things happening in NCAA conferences now (and I won't go into further detail as to what a particular one is)dry.gif but with CUSA soon to have no presence in DFW with a member school, how are advertisers of any DFW area CUSA affilate bowl going to react? Who knows, they may not react at all since I'm sure their expectations were probably never high in DFW before because of the local school that represented CUSA.

As stated, this would not be the norm for the North Texas and Denton I've gotten to know since 1972 as to be "THIS" proactive (or outside the box), but fellow green-tinted sports fans, utsa and other SBC schools are being talked up about MWC and CUSA as much or more than our school. Are some of you ready to swallow that pill if we get passed by (again) by even an upstart school that has not had to sell tickets between a string of losing seasons yet? You talk about the sound of an F-5'esque rushing wind coming out a very large yet quickly shrinking green balloon if the aforementioned were to happen; that is, even if we were passed over by a freakin' upstart. :surrender:

It would not be a pretty scene around these parts and many of you know this, except for those who want us to hold hands with every Bottom 25 FBS school many just up from another NCAA division , sing kum-bah-ya and just blow off any of our past successful football legacy to be with those who have absolutely no legacy at all; that is, a legacy in the modern times of NCAA college football which most say began in the early 1950's or about the time North Texas integrated the Lone Star State's traditionally caucasian schools with the great Abner Haynes and Leon King. These 2 who along with their teammates took a Mean Green team to the Sun Bowl in 1959.

We have to only hope that Apogee Stadium has not become the end-all for North Texas to coast along yet a few more years as we sit around waiting for good things to happen just because of its presence because if that is going to be the case, like the title in the SMU thread Harry posted and from the 'stangs board of which that subject title said: Is North Texas Going To Only Be Disappointed Again? (And not to even elaborate on some of the condescending posts about UNT on the SMU forum)
