Andy Katz to Big East: dump Smut/Houston for Memphis/Temple

If this were to become true, it means the BE BBall schools were complaining about how little the proposed additions (Houston and SMU for example) were to the prestige of the conference's main staple.

UH makes sense, from a basketball perspective. SMU doesn't.

SMU's name carries more prestige. But neither school has done anything of note in any sport in over two decades.

Someone should inform them that outside of 3 weeks in March no one cares about college basketball.

this big east expansion is football driven, not basketball. also, increase of buyout from $5million to $10million goes into effect ONLY if either navey or air force accept football only bid. if neither one does, then buyout remains at $5million and big east is still a mess dependent upon what big 12 does after mizoo moves to s.e.c.. will big 12 go back to 10 schools, which is what u.t.wants, with byu joining,{perhaps for football only},or go to 12, perfered by o.u., which brings west virginia, louisville, and cincy in play . NORTH TEXAS prayer should be 1]navey or air force join, driving up big east buyout 2] big 12 just adds 1, perhaps b.y.u. 3]smu and houston get big east bids, oppening up 2 cusa slots in texas 4]these slots are filled by n.texas, and probably u.t.s.a. or maybe la. tech. the bulldogs bring a market not much larger than la. monroe, which is a big negative. mizoo expected to announce this week they are moving to s.e.c., which should get ball rolling. ain't this fun.

Actually basketball season in Albuquerque and Las Vegas is quite exciting. In fact, living in LV it is like having back to back football seasons with how exciting it can get. A cold desert night inside the Thomas and Mack with a winter brew is one of my favorite experiences and definitely ties me over to spring when we get to get pumped about fball season.

Still want SMU to GOOOOOOOOO! Our time is near!

That would be the idea. I think we all can agree that what we get is completely dependent on what happens to SMU

Could be but SMU is a part of CUSA and it could very well be that even if SMU doesn't move (which they would be completely dumb not to) we can technically still be invited to be a part of the MWC since they would fill the Texas and DFW presence from the loss of TCU.
