I just did a 5 minute check of other programs in our region and there posted game times. Do these fan bases bitch as much as we do about game times? From past experience with being a season ticket holder at Arkansas and LSU (because of work relocation) game times are announced a week in advance.

SMU:

11/12 TBA

11/19 TBA

11/26 TBA

Baylor:

11/5 TBA (Homecoming)

11/12 TBA

11/19 TBA

12/3 TBA

Texas:

11/5 TBA

11/12 TBA

11/19 TBA

12/3 TBA

LSU:

11/5 TBA

11/12 TBA (Homecoming)

11/19 TBA

UL Monroe:

11/12 TBA

11/19 TBA

12/3 TBA

Ark. ST:

11/12 TBA

11/19 TBA

We should thank our AD department for trying to give us the ability to plan ahead. Time change for only 1 week in 12 (or 6) is pretty good by my account.

Right, and if you'll notice that PDF your reading the SMU schedule off of it was released on February 10th and seems to get updated as the games get near(NEAR MEANING, FURTHER OUT THAN 5 DAYS AND NOT A WEEK AFTER TELLING THE PAPER THE TIME WON'T CHANGE) because right beside the opponent it say's FSN(Fox Sports Network) with a "TV" inside of it. SMU Schedule

But when purchasing tickets the times are given for those three games.

Tulane, 11-5-11, 2:00 p.m.

Navy, 11-12-11, 1:00 p.m.

Rice, 11-26-11, 1:00 p.m.

For Baylor, that's Big 12 national TV implications there although the date set for their game against Tech at Arlington Stadium on 11-26-11 is clearly stated to be a 2:30 p.m. kickoff on the Baylor Athletic website.

As for Texas there are always TV implications, and the same for the SEC for LSU. Any time there's TV implications common sense tells you it's subject to change and of course everyone understands that.

As for the rest.

Arkansas State:

11-12-11 Home vs ULL(Homecoming) 2:00 p.m.

11-26-11 AT MTSU 1:00 p.m.

12-3-22 Home vs Troy 2:00 p.m.

ULM

11-12-11 Home vs MTSU 1:00 p.m.

11-26-11 Home vs FIU 1:00 p.m.

12-03-11 AT FAU 1:00 p.m.

Like I said, I did a 5 minute check. FFR you would still find something to bitch about if NT contacted you to schedule game times and they gave you a suite for every game.

ESPN and the eight day window sucks as does the 8 day window for CSS/CST (which doubly sucks until Comcast ends or loses its challenge to new FCC rules that would force them to make CSS available to Dish, Direct, ATT and Verizon).

It's a tough situation for athletic departments. Do you put TBA and announce the time 8 days out or do you list your scheduled time and risk having to get the word out later that the time has changed.

None of it is done for the ticket buying fans.

Oh, so 8 days is the common practice for time changes whenever TV is ever involved?

If you want the flexibility to move your start times around, make them all TBA until the week of or two weeks before or whatever.

Don't set your kickoff time months in advance and then change it the week of. That's not cool.

I expect the Rangers to be perennial playoff contenders for the next 2-4 years. How about we plan accordingly and have 4:00pm starts for all UNT home games in October 2012, October 2013, October 2014, and October 2015? It's not that those of us who have been put out by the time change can't handle a 4:00opm kickoff. In fact, some folks here on the board seem to prefer a 4:00pm kickoff to a 6:00pm kickoff. Maybe having more 4:00pm kickoffs would something we could do to get more commuters into Apogee.

I'm fine with 4:00pm kickoffs. What I'm not fine with is having any kickoff changed at the last minute, particularly Homecoming kickoff.

So, going forward, either TBA your October home kickoff times or make them all 4:00pm. Problem solved.

Funny how we complain about the change but yet when the rangers made made the playoffs we had tickets to game 2. We also had tickets to the AM and Arkansas game as well as planning to go to the Tulsa game if the rangers didn't get homefield and sell the Aggie tickets. On Wednesday night we find out the rangers were playing at home so Tulsa was out. Didn't know till Friday afternoon the game time but still was able to make plans to attend Aggie game that morning, get a tailgate planned for the afternoon and attend rangers that night. In 18 hours no less

Also don't forget game 2 of the ALCS was rescheduled from a Sunday to Monday on said Sunday morning and to Monday afternoon no less and yet the still manage to sell the game out and have over 51,000 show up.

ESPN reserves the right to pick games and times 8 days out in its contracts. From observation, they seem to generally announce 13 days out with the SEC.

I still believe the decision to change the gametime to 4pm came from above RV.

He indicated to Vito several days before it was changed that it could not be changed due to so many events scheduled around homecoming.

This would have all needed to involve and be cleared thru ULM, the SBC office, the President's level, and many various organizations, Marching Band, Concessions, Police, bus companies, radio outlets, etc. That's a huge amount of coordination.

So in none of this you went to a North Texas game?

Yes. You picked the right guy for a program dedication bow-up post, Honduras!

See you Saturday?
