Classification Conflict

Of the 105 players on the North Texas roster 29 are seniors, compared to just 19 juniors and

23 sophomores. Coach McCarney and his staff had to make up the remainder with freshman,

giving that class 34 spots on the roster. The gap comes mostly from the 2008 and 2009

signing classes, where just 16 of the 32 freshmen that signed from those two classes remain at

North Texas.

That gap is beyond uncanny.

Sounds like more of our loyalists need to listen to a former Big 12 HFC with 5 bowls under his belt while there when he tells us "it's going to take awhile?" Probably wouldn't be a bad idea for some to lay off of Coach Chico, too.

Why the hell does it always seem we are fighting with a short stick; in this case, a shortfall of bodies that no FBS schools should be having as a problem. All schools have atrition issues but our last coaching regime must have had a revolving door for this to have happened.

How many recruiting classes will it take to balance this out?

Once again how the hell do we go from being a missed XP to a 20 pt butt kicking to ULL in 1 year when they also have a new coach, without the same skins on the wall, although he does have a D2 National Title, tired of the excuses DMac should be going out to win not experimenting for the future. The past 7 years of rebuilding is getting old. If we wanted rebuilding we should have kept Dodge and his much lower salary.

We're all tired of starting over. Some of us are running out of years (and decades) to see many more "start overs" at North Texas but still................. we cannot punish the present crowd for the sins of Mean Green past with that MG past not having had that much Top 50 ranked success. (NOTE: Did UL or FIU have such a classification gap)?

I believe Coach D-Mac takes us beyond the Bottom 25 curve dramatically and out of the dregs of NCAA society--but not this year or next.

Just winning as a Bottom 25 school is not what our campus leaders had in mind any longer, either; that is, when we built Apogee Stadium. Lest we forget, our present main campus President served in the same role as a PAC 12 school president in the past and his own expectations for this school seems to be much higher than we've had for decades.

Classification Conflict

This has less to do with how many players remain from 2008 and 2009 freshman classes then it does with the heavy dose of Jucos, Dodge signed his last two years. Also I find it silly to complain about depth when your senior class is comparatively huge. The depth problem should hit next year not this year.

If you are expecting our senior class to be the class providing depth then we have a bigger problem the "depth". Seniors should be starters along with juniors and juniors and Sophs should be your depth while freshman are learning.

Instead we are starting freshman and seniors with no depth coming from the Soph and junior classes.

Riley Dodge - 22/31, 191 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT...15 carries, 43 yards 1 TD.

Darius Carey - 5 catches, 49 yards, 1 TD

Alex Lott - 1 catch, 37 yards, 1 TD

Jamaal Jackson - 5 catches, 27 yards

B.J. Lewis - 3 catches, 12 yards

O-Line with Victor Gill, Estaban Santiago and Kelvin Drake (if I'm not mistaken, all Dickey recruits?)

12 tackles for Craig Robertson...6 a piece for Shavod Atkinson and Kelvin Jackson.

Don't bother, man. You'll live longer.

Better just to stick your appendages over or in your orifices, get under the desk, and rock back and forth while muttering "unacceptable...unacceptable...unacceptable..."

All seniors have to be starters and should not be backups, what in the heck are you smoking? Depth can come from any class as I stated the middle classes are small because of the number of transfers Dodge signed. This NT team does not have great talent or depth but most would expect a senior laden team to be better than a younger team. So it is a very strange point to make, that your team is weak because there are too many seniors. Freshmen classes are almost always the biggest because of redshirts and less time for players to leave the program. NT is starting 2 redshirt freshmen and two true freshmen, hardly unusual.

Regardless of classification, it's painfully obvious we don't have the talent to get it done right now. It's also painfully obvious that it's going to take McCarney more than half a recruiting season to correct it.

Stop comparing us to ULL. Their previous coach was still recruiting. and recruiting well. Also, we had injury problems last year, but ULL may have had it worse. God, some of you are so impatient.

Impatient????? Man we have been waiting for YEARS for NT to get this right.

It is fair to expect dramatic results when you dramatically increase pay. Stop the excuse train. That train ran very long with Dodge. I don't want to be years down the road again when excuse makers finally see the light.

These aren't excuses they are explanations. They feel like excuses because they were the same with Dodge, but then as it turned out those were excuses because the team never improved during the season or from one season to the next. If you cannot see the improvement already on this team with less playmakers then either you are so beat down from 6+ years of losing you can't anymore, or you just wouldn't recognize it anywhere.

Do you believe McCarney is the right coach for the job?

If yes, what is the deal? We're experiencing growing pains at the moment, but the improvement is plain to see, ESPECIALLY on defense.

If no, then sorry. You can tell everyone here a million "I told you so's", whenever McCarney is canned in 4 years.

Seems strange to me, but why would something like this be listed in the game notes after a loss? I didn't read them, but was as it also given in the game notes after beating Indiana or FAU?

Rick

This is part of the ULM game notes for this upcoming Saturdays game against Louisiana-Monroe. This is not from the Post game notes from the La La game last week.

Rick

They've been in the Game Notes every week since our opening game at FIU.

I doubt it was in the Indianna game notes; you dont have to explain away wins.
