Here's a scenario nobody's thought of. So let's assume the 6 current AQ leagues continue on as going concerns. We've got the CUSA/MWC alignment. Let the WAC go the way of the Big West and become a basketball conference. Merge the MAC and SBC. That leaves us with eight FBS conferences, each capable of holding a championship game, leaving us with eight conference champions in December. Hmmm....Eight conference champions. Whatever could we possibly do to sort out a mess like that?

I agree that the SBC and the MAC should merge, and I agree that your 8 champions should form a you know what, leaving the non champions to play in your various bowls. But, it will never happen. The whole purpose of the superconferences is to shut the non AQs out.

I am racking whats left of my brain cells to come up with any positive spin.

It just pisses me off that all this is happening during Apogee Stadium's first year of operation. It seems almost a cruel joke for us to finally, finally, finally have a major college football venue to grow into and then (for the moment) it seems we are having the rug pulled out from under us. I know nothing stays the same, but today is just not one of our school's red letter days if all this comes to fruition from the Big East and the way it is all coming down.

I'm just absolutely not worried about it. We're gonna start winning, and not just in the Sunbelt. We're going to get people's attention in a much different way than during the 2001-2004 run. Those so-called body bag games will first become close contests, then evolve into eventual wins. The good stuff will come. We're on the cusp, and you can say you were there. Ride the wave. Enjoy the game tomorrow, and let RV and the greater college football powers take care of the rest. We win, consistently, against real teams, and we'll reach football Canaan, my friend.

This is all we fans really need to worry about. Have fun, tailgate and enjoy watching some good basketball and some improving football. It's going to take longer and much more than building a new stadium to dig this department out of the ditch that the old administrations drove us into.

Things are improving, budgets are improving, support is improving. We will gather speed. It will be a snowball effect before you know it.
