DENTON, Texas – Florida Atlantic's nightmare season continues.

The Owls had hoped to get their first win of the season Saturday when they played North Texas and bring some momentum with them when they returned to Boca Raton for the home opener in the new on-campus stadium.

Instead of coming home with a win, FAU's multiple mistakes doomed the Owls, as they fell to the Mean Green 31-17 at Apogee Stadium, and will stagger home at 0-5 and 0-2 in the Sun Belt.

"We want to find out why we haven't met the mark of excellence we should be developing at this time," FAU coach Howard Schnellenberger said.

"This was a big win for us," said North Texas coach Dan McCarney. "It was a very good team win."
