You actually said

That's correct. And I truly feel that way. North Texas' success on the football field is infinitely more important to me than the Rangers. I clearly said that I was probably in the minority, and do not expect other people to feel the same way. In fact, I'm certain that many people feel differently.

I think I must have misinterpreted what I supposedly said, thinking you were saying I had said, with regards to society, that the NT game was more important.

In short, KRAM and Mean Green Matt don't like baseball as much as another group of people, attendance will likely be down with everything going on this weekend and we all want the football team to never lose a game again, which is we post on a message board about it.

CONTROVERSIAL!

So, the winner of Game 1 takes the series about two thirds of the time. Seems pretty important to me.

In a short series, every game is pretty damn important.

7 game Sun Belt title playoff?

I'm surprised no one has already thrown that out there.

This is game 2 of the Sun Belt playoffs. UNT is 0-1.

Also, did someone hijack Quoner's account?

You are letting me off much too easily.....I like baseball, just not as much as I like UNT. Now, if it were a UNT baseball game that would be another matter in itself...you pick 'em in that regard. But, professional baseball vs UNT? Never even close to a choice having to be made.

I will go to the UNT game and I will flip between Hank/George and the Rangers game on my radio.

It's game one, for Pete's sake. Now, if it were game 7...

I like the way you think!

I'm hoping most on this board would choose UNT over the Rangers. Student/Casual fan attendance will be very low as it is because of all the events mentioned so we'll need our hard core fans to show up. The point of my original post was simply a fear that it may look ugly on Saturday.

Caring about the Rangers doesn't make you any more or less of a UNT fan and anyone who wants to beat up anyone for making a perfectly reasonable sports argument is just being...I don't even know the word...stubborn, idealistic, biased?

How dare anyone be stubborn, idealistic or biased on this board!

This my friends is how you build a program with culture. Culture that leads to national relevance and aq conference worthiness. There is a reason the UT/OU game isn't concerned with the ALCS! Fans and more fans supporting the program, the only proven way to NCAA greatness!

Does anyone know if a portable LCD TV can get a Channel 4 signal in Denton?

I can tell you from experience, most absolutely, yes. Every local station can be received from the convenience of your own tailgate using this setup. And with better quality than anyone's satellite or cable signal.

The TX/OU game is at 11am. You can't get any better in the central time zone, and there really is no excuse for that ruining attendance. None. Even if you go to the game, you should be able to make it back to Denton for the UNT game.

I have to be at a wedding tomorrow night at 6:30. So you can imagine my frustration. This is the only place I can vent about it too. (facebook friends and friends of friends).

People... October to the end of the year is off limits for weddings. Period. Don't be selfish, move your wedding, you and your guests will have a better time. Huge weekend for sports fans in this city. What the hell were you thinking.

Thanks for the stats. I knew they had to be out there somewhere. Now, what are the stats of a college team opening 1-4 and still making a bowl game if they lose game 6? Hmmmmmm...wonder what the significance of that would be? Meaningless? I think not.

To be fair, I bet the stats aren't that good for a 1-4 team that wins game six making a bowl game either. Edited by CMJ

I'm a fan of both teams.

If the Rangers lose tonight, they arestill in control of their own destiny to win the World series. If the Mean Green lose tonight, they'll need help to get a share of the Sun Belt title.

By the end of the year, UNT will have played 12 (worst case) to 13 (best case) TOTAL games. The Rangers will have played 8 (worst case) to 18 (best case) PLAYOFF games.

There will never be another first season at Apogee. There is a much greater chance of the Rangers making the playoffs again.

Quality of a DVR'd Ranger game > quality of an ESPN archived Mean Green game.

I was at game 5 of the World Series last year. Give me the Mean Green today.

Please don't blast me with -s but I fear we may be in for terrible attendance numbers on Saturday because of the Rangers game. They haven't announced the time yet but no doubt it will fall during the NT game. I know I'm already debating which event I'd rather see.

The decision was easy for me. I was a Rangers fan when it was uncool to be one, and I am a Mean Green fan as they have gone through their struggles. I will be at Apogee watching the Mean Green, with updates on the Rangers game on my cellphone.
