SMU alumns disrespect everyone. We could use some help Patterson. I promise McCarney would be respectful. SMU is like this with everybody.

Or, is this just publicity to try and manufacture some sort of rivalry for the big east... hmmmm....

I love conspiracy theories...

Actually, there are some SMU alums who don't concur with a handful who give us grief; on the other hand, some of us have done the same amount of dishing out grief to SMU'ers in years past.

All 3 Metroplex schools merely have to do is just take care of their respective business and all 3 will have good things happen (and that's whether we play each other not).

Granted, though, it is great collegiate fun when a visiting school has many of their fans in attendance and usually at tailgates one on one communication from alums of both schools proves that few of us from either side are really ogres in person.

Gary could have handled it better but I don't blame him. I especially like his comments about the refs not being there ever again.

It reminds me of a story about Tom Kimbrough, the lone time coach of the Plano Wildcats. I'm not sure if things are done the same way now but back in the 70's and 80's high school refs got a percentage of the gate for their pay. Therefore, refs loved being at Plano games because they drew large numbers.

Whenever Tom Kimbrough disliked a ref he wouldn't yell, scream, or cuss him out. Instead, he would simply say "I got your name". That meant that ref would no longer work and Plano games. That's all he had to do.

Why do conferences have their own refs? Where did this come from? I understand geography basically dictates some things, but why can't the NCAA take this over?...and would that solve anything? I know I can't stand it when we get OOC teams into Denton, only to have to play with their officials.

Wow . . . Patterson always struck me as a mild-mannered "shoe-shine boy" type.

I have a feeling things are going to be unpleasant in this game for Smoo next year.

Watching Patterson the past ten years, he has called out for fans to stop ranting time and time again. 2004, 5-7 season, got the fans to stop ranting about Tulane. Happened again after the 2005 loss to SMU and after losing to Boise in the 2010 Fiesta Bowl.

For him to call out another coach and especially another school as an institution, they did something wrong. Period.

And that game is going to be an ugly one. I see a 30-40 point win for TCU.

Appears to me he got bent out of shape because of the officiating, and had an excuse to go off on Jones' comments--which appeared to me to be more of a compliment. But whatever. He even thew CUSA under the bus. For him to even entertain getting upset by something an athlete said/did is bush. He got his butt kicked, he didn't like it, and he went off.

Nothing he said in today's FWST sounded like anything other than sour grapes. The guy just had a terrific run of seasons and won a Rose Bowl. I have no love for SMU, but show some class and hold your school above it even if the other guy rubs you the wrong way, for pete's sake.

Here is more of June Jones' actual "inflammatory" quote that wasn't in the FWST:

"TCU opened the season with a 50-48 loss to Baylor. To outsiders, TCU looks vulnerable this year. Not so for SMU head coach June Jones, who said the Horned Frogs look as tough as ever.

"They look exactly the same to me," Jones said. "They've done a great job with their schemes [on] both sides of the ball, and just recruiting and plugging in new bodies."

Yeah. That's a real slam against TCU.

Maybe that's the problem.

Tommy DeVito: No more shines, Billy.

Billy Batts: What?

Tommy DeVito: I said, no more shines. Maybe you didn't hear about it, you've been away a long time. They didn't go up there and tell you. I don't shine shoes anymore.

Billy Batts: Relax, will ya? Ya flip right out, what's got into you? I'm breaking your balls a little bit, that's all. I'm only kidding with ya...

Tommy DeVito: Sometimes you don't sound like you're kidding, you know, there's a lotta people around...

Billy Batts: I'm only kidding with you, we're having a party, I just came home and I haven't seen you in a long time and I'm breaking your balls, and you're getting f***ing fresh. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you.

Tommy DeVito: I'm sorry too. It's okay. No problem.

Billy Batts: Okay, salud. [takes a drink] Now go home and get your f***in' shinebox.

Tommy DeVito: !^#%@*&^!$@#!^@*#(@&!%^!

"I'd be quiet if I thought the person in charge of the officiating crew came out and said it wasn't very good, but they didn't. I have a hard time with people who don't admit mistakes. I have to do it all the time."

That's what gets me too. The CUSA commissioner told CDC that he'd make a statement and he didn't. Admit to the mistakes publicly, or don't admit to them at all.

Screw Fatterson for making Jones the good guy in all this. I guess you loose your perspective on what got you there once you get an administration and AD that coddles and caters to your every whim for a few years.

Total McCarney conspiracy to make me type that.

I guess Coach Patterson has an easier time managing the stress of moving up the ranks of college football than he does the stress of his team backsliding.

Having said all that, I'm glad that he unloaded on SMU. No one deserves it more.
