Teams from leagues like the Sun Belt, MAC, WAC and CUSA would essentially get hosed. One team would get in from those leagues and then be whacked by Texas, Oregon or Auburn.

Last year was the only time in Sun Belt history (other than 2005, before the league played 8 conference games and also a year where 3 teams tied and 3/4ths of the league was 3-4 in conference play or better) that a 2 loss team has even managed to tie for the conference title.

10 years of football, and 2 losses in conference has historically proven that your title hopes are finished.
