If we get to 6 wins, I think we will end up in a bowl somewhere, because after the conference champion, the bowl games get to pick whoever they want from the SBC who is bowl eligible. Getting to six wins won't be easy at all though, but it is possibe.

I think I'll go ahead and book a hotel room just in case. Any idea on what the team hotel might be?

Sounds like enough proof for planning a road trip. Heck, 3 months out. I'm game.

tap the brakes a bit...the boys have won one game against a crappy big 10 team...they are improving...and i love it and hope for the best...but, troy is still ahead, as is asu and ulm and ull and tulsa and fau and muts...i would love this...but perspective folks...let's have the boys kickass saturday and then we will move on!

I love our team, but that's really premature. About the only time I'd make a prediction like this is in the world of Playstation football, and even that is at least at game 6 of my season.

Would I like to have our guys go bowling? Oh hell yes!

Just not against Louisville. Not based on what I've seen. Talk to me about if our guys beat up Tulsa and sweep the belt.

In 2009 and this year when they played Alabama the team stayed at the Marriott on Grandview Parkway in Birmingham. It is a pretty nice hotel and a third time there would be great!

To get there we are going to have to win at least 1 conference road game. If we can go 5-3 in conference, I think you will see us in a bowl game. That is a huge IF, but we don't necessarily have to beat Tulsa. They are the hardest game left on our schedule.

Moral of Story: When you beat "ANY" team from one of the Big 6 major conferences you start getting some recognition--even bowl talk for your team. Hint: Schedule more school like Indiana rather than LSU or Alabama albeit we will eventually need to beat some Top 25 teams for us to get back in a major college football poll since 197_? This Mean Green football program can do this.

Bowl talk might be a year or 2 ahead of schedule, but Coach Dan McCarney's hero he has framed on his Apogee Stadium office wall and when his hero was in his first year at North Texas (circa, 1973) would have had a bowl team had the Missouri Valley Conference had a bowl tie-in back then as every conference does now. (Fry took SMU to a bowl game with only 4 wins one year as I recall).

Yet.....man O man, what if this team improves each week from here on out and gets those 6 wins? Tulsa will be a major challenge but would be a great milestone win for our football program's entire history as we have not beaten the Golden 'Canes since I was a senior in high school--right after the Ice Age. .

if we loose to tulsa, getting to 6 wins means we have to win all 4 remaining home games[fau,la.monroe,wk,mtsu] which can be done, and 1 of 3 road games [ull, a.state, troy], which is tough. if we loose to la. monroe at home[they have a good team], then we are in trouble, as i don't think we can win 2 of 3 remaining road games. just an old mans opinion.

Looks like they have 4 SBC teams slotted for bowls... is that even possible?

Florida International

Louisiana Monroe

North Texas

Troy

If we can beat ULM and Troy it becomes very probable that we go to a bowl and maybe even as SBC's football champions. Even any tie for the conference championship might even go to North Texas, but I need to do more research on that one.
