I was thinking the same thing. But it's weird for a UNT fan to hope for FIU not to lose any of its conference games. We could still catch them.

Like said earlier, if this team can actually play 4Q we should right in the race for the top. Wish we could have the FIU game back.

Wish the FIU game didn't start the season. This conference is staying true to form with a wide open race. La-la might surprise a few more teams, Troy's defense isn't that good and ASU put up big numbers on a D1AA/FCS team.

I wonder if 4 - 5 Belt teams beating AQ teams regularly would benefit us (Belt) more right now than hoping 1 team gets ranked while the rest tank OOC.

Did Boise's amazing run help the WAC? Did TCU's help the Mountain West?..... or did both of those teams bail for greener pastures as fast as they could, leaving the same middling/dying non-AQ conference behind?

Greenminer is right. Having half of the league consistently beating AQs is far better for the league as a whole than one team MAYBE getting ranked. And what's better than BOTH of those things?!? US winning the league, or having a chance to. FIU's loss puts our destiny back in our hands... and that's all that matters. Will it happen this year? Odds are stacked against it, sure... but odds were even MORE stacked against in in 2001. As long as we have a chance, I'll root for anything that helps us get there.
