Q: How much confidence did Indiana gain by beating South Carolina State?

A: About the amount you'd expect a team that hasn't won yet would get from beating a team they had no business losing to. There is something to be said for the feeling you get when you don't leave the clubhouse on the wrong end of the scoreboard, and obviously South Carolina State has a ton of talent for an FCS team that's playing with significantly fewer scholarships. But at the end of the day, Indiana won a game that it not only should win, but would have been embarrassed to lose. This game didn't prove to the Hoosiers anything they didn't already know about themselves, but it stopped the negative momentum, which was important.
